I'm not happy to say it, but was waiting for that shoe to drop. Not sure what it is about his game, but Archibald just can't seem to impress - rightly or wrongly.

Would hate to see any of them go down but even so, when the NHL ramps back up there will be spots galore in Chicago so the prugatory may not be too long. Any chance somebody like Gordon can get loaned to another 'A' team? Otherwise, unless one of them tanks I think it will be either Friesen or Mallet going down as well.

I can't see Rodin or even Mallet going any where they're invested in these guys for the future. Archibald seems be blowing his opportunity.

In the 4 pre-season games ole Kassian has been awfully quiet. Is it time to send out the alarm bells? I thought he'd be a man amongst boys out there. Schroeder continues to impress, the kid is ready for prime time. Can we finally close the book on Rodin? I'm looking at what's left on the Chicago roster and I can't help but shake my head. Nice drafting, Gillis.

Looking at the highlights, a couple of his goals have been the result of coasting into the slot un-marked for the pass from behind the net. We'll see if he can get away with that in the NHL. Stats are looking pretty good though.

Sunday Oct 14

AHL

Rockford 3 Chicago 5
Lack 25 saves on 28 shots

Ebbett, (1) (Sterling, Connauton)
Longpre, (1) (SH)
Sterling, (1)
Longpre, (2) (Pinizzotto, Connauton)
Sweatt, (1) (Kassian)

Longpre (Wolves contract) selected 1st star, and supposedly has had an unbelievable start to the season - dangerous on almost every shift. Kevin Connauton with 2 assists, selected 3rd star, and not that +/- means a whole lot, but for a player that has been criticized for his defensive awareness it's relevant to note that he was +4 in this game!

OHL

Kitchener 2 Ottawa 6
McEneny 0 points, -3

From Hockey Futures
Another forward making good progress in his development last season was Joseph LaBate (VAN). The Eagan, MN native finished his outstanding rookie campaign leading all Wisconsin freshmen with 20 points (five goals, 15 assists) in 37 games. LaBate was utilized as both a center and winger last season and played quite well at both positions. His confidence level grew over the course of the season and where this was particularly evident was in his willingness to take calculated risks to create plays.

“We’re absolutely hoping that Joe will have a breakout year for us,” Eaves said of LaBate. “He’s a skilled forward that’s really competitive and has learned the (college) game. Joe was put in a lot of situations that maybe he probably wouldn’t have played in if we weren’t so young last year. The only situation that he didn’t play in for us was on the penalty kill. Joe wants to get better and he’s willing to do what’s necessary to get the job done. He has come back bigger and stronger, but he’s still got a lot of room for improvement there because his body is not physically mature yet. But he’s still working hard at it and Joe is going to play in a lot of situations for us this year.”

How many actual Canuck draft picks are in the Wolves line-up? All I see are names of non-drafted Canuck players in the stats columns
