2013-14 Utica Comets

Post by Southern_Canuck »

Assuming Santorelli makes the Canucks as a 13th forward, and Schroeder makes it as well as a 3rd line center, here is how I think the lineup might shake out...

Pelletier - Hamill - Jensen
Archibald - Friesen - Ferriero
Stuart - Mallet - Grenier
DeFazio - Lain - Blomstrand
Myron, Anthony

Tommernes - Mullen
Andersson - Corrado
Polasek - Blain
Sauve, Biega, Guimond

Eriksson
Cannata

Comets Trim Roster by Seven

The Comets have released the following seven players from their training camp tryout contracts: Defensemen: Louis Liotti and Brad Walch. Forwards: Wes Myron, John Armstrong, Daulton Leveille, Yanni Gourde, and Steven Anthony.

Comets roster now stands at 29 players, 16 forwards, 10 defensemen, and three goalies.

Hmmmm - I wonder if Wes Myron regrets abandoning the college path - I guess he goes back to the ECHL? And Anthony still has a Canucks contract, so I guess he's off to Kalamazoo?

That's quite the logjam on the back end. Surprised that Guimond is one of the extras given how he did at the prospects camp.

That was just my guess - and since then John Negrin has been added into the mix as well... I believe Mullen is injured (again), so it'll be interesting how many they keep around and if any are sent to ECHL or CHL - though usually AHL teams have quite a few extras around.

Tommernes - Mullen
Andersson - Corrado
Polasek - Blain
Negrin, Sauve, Biega, Guimond

Utica plays a final pre-season game tonight at 4pm in Hamilton.

It seems so stupid to have Corrado on the farm when he clearly outplayed Alberts, Weber and whats that other scrub?
The kid is ready now. Why fuck around? Play him FFS

I wager he'll be up before Christmas. Something's got to give.

What makes it even more ridiculous is all the hemming and hawing about "letting the kids play" and "getting younger".

Not to worry though, because if last night is any indication then Tanev will be injured in no time.

I thought Stanton looked solid last night (for a #6-7 dee).

Small sample size though.

I'd say it's fairly obvious that Corrado gets called up the second one of our top 4 goes down with an injury.

Found this....never heard of it as of yet.
OF NOTE — Nicklas Jensen (upper body) remains in Vancouver for treatment and is listed as day-to-day, but will eventually be assigned to Utica (AHL).

Guess this could be included in the injury thread too.

The other scrub is doing ok Daniel. Perhaps you should step out of the local tavern you frequent so frequently and check out a game or two.

Yeah, gotta admit some of these bargain-priced castoffs pay off for Gillis...

It's a prison camp in Alberia...checking out means joining the majority of BC on the E-I ski team

Oh and the other scrub is alright...for a scrub. Doubt if he's the key to a cup or anything... but before we anoint Stanton the next JJ Daignault around here....lets see how he and the team perform a bit before judging too much either way.
