From what I could see out of Rodin, his biggest weakness was just that, he is weak. He is soo slender, he couldn't handle the tight checking game on the small ice. No space to use his skill set to his advantage, no strength to compete with even the 'A' crowd.

Give him a few years to develop where he's comfortable (see Detroit model) and perhaps he'll be ready for the small ice again.

Seems like I've been hearing about the likes of Labate, Hutton, McNalley and Beattie forever. When are we ever going to see these college schmoes in a Vancouver training camp? Not like the organization couldn't use a couple of them to at least make an attempt to make the team before the Sedins collect their pension cheques. :|

Hutton and Beattie are 2012s aren't they? A bit early to get antsy about them although wit the way Huttons played it'd be nice to get him into the system.

McNally sat a year long suspension to keep his NCAA eligibility so I'm guessing he plays the full term. Labate could turn pro I guess, don't know much about his situation.

Whats the deal with Mallet? I thought this kid was supposed to be a helluva scrapper along with decent skill? He's had like 1 fight this year? He ain't making a great case for himself.

I have to agree with you - I expected him to claw his way to the NHL through fighting and gritty play, along with a little scoring touch... but it doesn't seem like it is going that way?

A bit of a disappointment.

Drafting college or university kids are mostly a waste of a draft pick.

If you are not in the AHL by 21ish you will not make the NHL as any sort of impact player.

Of course there are exceptions but I would say majority never make the NHL unless they quit school early.
