Re: CC Random thread

Do you really believe that's what's happening for the most part - or that your example, while rare, is SO damaging that people whose opinions are recognized as legitimate by their peers should also be required so submit to this process? Mark Bothwell is a famous example and he's a respected expert ...

Re: CC Random thread

Topper, you're such a character. Otherwise I'd ask you to provide some examples of these lesser lights of the scientific community going to the press and causing actual problems that needed to be solved by a change in policy. Or maybe we could talk about how a peer reviewed journal like Nature, whic...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Half the article was the club owner Mark Croce... That did seem a little self serving considering how much money Kane was dropping at his establishment. What business owner in their right mind goes out of their way to make a public comment about an ongoing rape investigation? :drink: He also lost o...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

You should see the one they (Buffalo News) ran before it. Half the article was the club owner Mark Croce lying about lacking any interest in the outcome and then ridiculing the behaviour of a woman in his establishment hours before the crime that he could not even link to it (but it was clear he was...

Re: CC Random thread

We don't get much summer here in the NWT, and last year was fucking a Beijing nightmare of smog and smoke and ash, thankfully I'm not a chain-smoking 60-year old (only a chain-smoking 30-year old). Only road south (16 hours to Edmonton) was closed for weeks, people hoarding gas, women throwing thei...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

The hockey fraternity is horribly silent. If this was a non athlete, or an athlete from a different sport the media would be all over it. But everyone wants to protect Kane. If it was a non-athlete it wouldn't be a story. IF he is charged, I expect the NHL will suspend him indefinitely. IF he is ch...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

I've read that the Pens hits guys are quite liberal with their calculations, Max Lapierre racked up 105 in 35 games in Pittsburgh, but only 48 in 45 games in St Louis. Kris Letang would've been top-2 most physical on our back-end, and apparently Crosby had 66 hits, FFS. Anyways, with the team of wh...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

OK dude. None of that has to do with what I said. Nevertheless you might want to note that former player agents have been in the GM spot for three of the last five Stanley Cup winning teams.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Puhleaze dude. For a guy who referenced Mike Gillis first appearance as GM for literally his entire tenure and then some, who moaned about his comments about Nonis, it's pretty rich to see you talking about how people question Benning after a year.

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

Where are you getting $9m per?

That's not what I think when I read (roughly paraphrasing) "three years and over $9m in salary."

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

It's not too often a player gets their "ask" in arbitration - last one I recall off-hand is Shea Weber four years ago.

And no, Holtby's RFA years are probably not worth that number he's not going to get.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

The Flyers look like they could be real offer sheet targets next year.

I don't know who the team can protect with arbitration but they already have almost $49m going to 13 players - not including Voracek, Brayden Schenn or Couturier.
