Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO
Its a pretty crazy what-if scenario (and well-placed in the pipe dreams thread), but Hedman in 2011 wasn't far off the near-peak Bieksa of 2011. He averaged 21 min/game, 22 min/game in the playoffs, and remember that Lightning team got screwed in game 7 versus the Bruins to just miss making the SCF...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO
Obviously that trade would be good for the current team but probably comes at the expense of the 2011 run.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 8:30 pm Yeah he should have gave them two firsts and Bieksa and Biter. Would have set the team up for fifteen years instead of 3. Hedman is one of the best players in the league

Re: Hypothetical Draft Guarantee
I love these 2 draft polls, they so perfectly sum up being a Canuck fan: Most (including me!) give up the sure thing for a tiny/doomed shot at #1 overall Then we direct spite at other teams for "undeservedly" winning the lottery. So we're gluttons for punishment, and take all that aggression out on...

Re: Draft Lottery Winner
Expected but sure would have been nice to win for a change... at least I can sleep now following this ridiculous new announcement system!
For me last year's draft was a lot more painful as we had far higher chances of drafting in the top 3. This year was always a crapshoot.

Re: Draft Lottery Winner
Its peculiar to me that a lot of canuck fans are freaked if Chicago wins the Dahlin lottery. Why? Who the hell cares. The Oilers winning one of the top 3 is the only scenario that would piss me off. The rest? Whatever. Well, like the Oilers, fellow tank artists the Sabres are undeserving as well Ou...

Re: The Rebuild...
Now the other side of a championship team without a #1Dman is the 1996 and 2001 Avs, but they had the same good ol' Canadian #1C and Euro #2C, strong down the middle, but their top tier dman was a QB in 96' Ozolinsh and 01' was Blake, with Foote patrolling the D, plus goalie on fire Patty Roy, so i...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft
Man getting into the top 3 would be great obviously for the 1st round, but even the 2nd round as you can probably nab a solid dman faller in the early 30's...oh the joys of some lotto luck once in a blue moon. Pretty sure the lottery only applies to the first round and from the second round onwards...

Re: Draft Lottery Winner
There is not much separating the next 6 to 8 players after Dahlin. Really? You don't think Svechnikov is a cut above the rest? I would be shocked if he falls past 3rd. I agree there is a lot of unpredictability in the next wave but Svechnikov seems to be the only one who is consistently forecast to...

Hypothetical Draft Guarantee
I figure with only 1 day left before the lottery, I'd gauge how confident people are feeling/attached to the idea of finally winning the lottery. Hypothetically if you could walk away with a guarantee of the 2nd/3rd pick but forego the lottery would you do it? Or would you rather cling to the minusc...

Re: Draft Lottery Winner
I ran the simulator on http://nhllotterysimulator.com/ for the first time and the Canucks finished second. I then ran the same on my usual http://www.tankathon.com/nhl and on the third spin the Canucks finished first. For those reading this post tomorrow after we finally won the lottery, you're welc...

Re: Draft Lottery Winner
One thing is for certain, we won't be picking 4th or 5th. The 4th or 5th spot will be where the next best defencemen after Dahlin goes. One thing that scares me, Wahlstrom may be sitting there available for us in that 6th to 9th area of the draft and Benning selects a defencemen and Wahlstrom goes ...

Re: Pick Your Winners. First round.
I too surprised myself with an 8/8 performance. Looks like a lot of us did well in the first round. Haven't seen a separate prediction for second round so just going to start it here. Finding it way tougher for this round already. Hopefully that means tighter series as the first round was a little u...
