Last year the Canucks had 3 wins, 22 losses and 1 OT loss when trailing after 2 periods. This year, they are at 3 wins, 2 losses and 0 OT losses when trailing after 2 periods. So that means that after only 9 games into the 06/07 season, they have equaled the amount of wins when trailing after 2 peri...

I'm sorry but the 'with the state our defence is in' comment has to be your most off-the mark comment I've heard you make - and that includes anything you've said about Fedorov or Reid. Our defence has been outstanding this season, and one of the main reasons we are still right in the mix and not h...

600,000 on Baumer or 450,000 on Fitzpatrick? To me it's a no brainer--Baumer all the way. It's $1.2 millon on Baumer vs $450K on Fitzpatrick Also add another $1.2 mil to Baumer because it's a two-year deal. I don't believe a team paying half his salary goes beyond the year in whcih he was claimed o...

The point was: Calgary's D is better than ours. Since when? They have a better team defense (or at least did last season, this one remaining to be seen), but how is Mark Giordano or Andrei Zyuzin that much better than Kevin Bieksa? Phaneuf will be good, but he's no Matty Ohlund today. Regehr or Mit...

Just an update: Kopitar has 7 pts in 6 games, leads Kings forwards in ice time and plays both on the PP and on the PK. And he's just 19. Could you imagine him on the wing for the Sedins, or centering Naslund? As for an update on Bourdon: Last night he had a bag of popcorn and two diet pepsis while s...

I like the second assist. Take for example the Sedins when they were on the 4 on 4 last night and playing their Harlem-Globetrotter's rendition of keep-away from the Oilers. Say the Sedins are passing it back and forth for two minutes and then one shoots it towards the net and it bounces in off of N...

The Defense Doesn't Rest

Anyone else completely thrilled with how are top 5 (heck even our top 6) has worked out so far this season? People were talking before the season about our supposed lack of depth, but our D has been great so far. Salo has been extraordinary, and one of the best players on the team (Nonis HAS to find...

Topic: Why is Trevor Linden not playing on the second line?

The whole argument about putting Linden on the second line is not whether or not he can score goals (which he cannot, unfortunately), but whether or not he can create room and scoring oppurtunities. Granted, his hands are not what they were used to be and everyone knows his skating is below average...

Putting Linden on the 2nd line might work for a game or two, but I don't think he can handle second line minutes for a whole season, he's at the stage where his carreer is winding down and he needs the 3rd/4th line minutes. This is *exactly* the type of thinking that is keeping Linden OFF the 2nd l...

I know Kopitar is leading the league in scoring, after playing less than 5% of the games this season. But really, it's way too early to talk about who is going to have a better career. There are plenty of examples of rookies who scored a bunch early in their first season but never made it to become...

I seriously wonder where such high expectations for Bourdon came. When he was first taken scouts were saying his career potential was as a top-pairing defenceman. He had a solid training camp last year and he played well in the WJHC's, but I don't even think he was on the top defensive pairings (Mar...

After Kopitar fell to the 10th position, I was sure we'd take him, and I was extremely upset with Nonis for not going after him, but after thinking it over I think the right choice was made. Bourdon has the potential to be a good #1 or #2 guy, and potentially be a captain of this team. He has a rar...

I saw this posted on canucks.com (i know, not exactly the most reliable but still...) and it seems like team 1040 has some conflicting reports... the post made is as follows: Team 1040 reports that Salo's injury didn't happen on a specific play...He pulled his groin and didn't wanna further the inj...

Fedor Federov was a big, highly skilled centre...... I don't want to come off as a Don Cherry disciple, but I am starting to think that if the scouting staff is having trouble picking between two players, the high percentage choice is the Canadian. I think that gives you a better chance of choosing...

The last time Trevor Linden scored over 20 goals in a season? Over 10 years ago. He's not a scorer anymore guys; 3rd line at best. Last time he was put in a scoring role consistently? Probably about 10 years ago, I do agree, that he probably is more of a third-liner, but for now, I don't see the ha...
