Re: WHERE do the Canucks go from here? List your strategies

While I'm not opposed to the Canucks adding another consistent offensive threat to their top six like Martin St. Louis, why on earth would Tampa ever trade him for anything short of a king's ransom?

Re: Daniel = Goal of the Year!

Yeah I preferred the Perron goal as well. Daniel's goal was sweet and all, but the Flames weren't even trying by that point. The Sedins were hotdogging like crazy to get Henrik the Art Ross and the goal was a meaningless event that everyone would've laughed off if it hadn't worked. Perron's was just...

 Pretty good, eh? When's the draft again?
Tragically not for another 2 and a half weeks. Ugh.

Re: Canucks Picks in the 2010 June's draft

Everyone seems to be making their case while using different words to say the same thing for about 3 pages... I guess the way I see it is that any big defenceman with talent akin to a smaller pucking moving defenceman will be long gone by 25th overall. It seems to me that players like Tindori and M...

Re: Canucks Picks in the 2010 June's draft

Your point was a very silly one. First things first, Larry Robinson doesn't factor into this conversation because he was drafted 39 years ago, and scouting has improved somewhat since then. More importantly, the game has changed since then. A number of the players you listed played all or a vast ma...

Re: Canucks Picks in the 2010 June's draft

Not that many dmen are great 2 way players and I'll take defensive skills over offensive . It was defence that cost us in the playoffs, not a lack of offence.. I agree entirely, the only point I'm making is that drafting a huge defenceman hoping he'll be a solid player has a much lower probability ...

Re: Canucks Picks in the 2010 June's draft

I'm starting to be less and less sold on McIlrath. His entire profile in the THN draft primer is centred around the fact that he's tough with one throw away sentence about how he has a passable shot. It seems like he's a bit of a streaky player going pointless in the first half of his junior season....

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see us trade down to the mid-second round in an attempt to pick up another top 90 pick this year.

Re: Canucks Picks in the 2010 June's draft

I'm still a fan of going with the BPA again in the draft, although I'd be shocked if we didn't take a defenceman. As for size, I think the idea that big men can't skate is a touch overrated. While I wouldn't draft a player solely because they're 6'5" 220lbs, sometimes rolling the dice on a player li...

Re: WHERE do the Canucks go from here? List your strategies

I can't imagine we'll be players for any of the marquee free agents out there. Both Hamhuis and Volchenkov will demand $5M+ because of their relative youth and the fact that they can both log big minutes. We're in the market for a $2-3M solution on the back end, and there's no player out there that ...

Re: Give Cornuck The right to ban people

Yeah seriously, I find it difficult to post here these days. I used to be a regular here and I still make an effort to visit the site every couple days, but it's just not the same as it was. It used to be a small community of intelligent posters intent on stimulating hockey discussions. While that h...

Re: VANCOUVER CANUCKS VS LOS ANGELES KINGS ROUND 1

My exam tonight (and last for eight days) ends at 10pm est, so the exact time the Canucks game starts. I couldn't ask for a sweeter reward after a week of nose to the grindstone studying.

Re: GDT: Canucks host Phoenix - 7pm - SNet

This is a big game tonight for a number of reasons. We're on a bit of a slide lately (1 win in 4 :| ) and Phoenix has had our number all year it seems. Luongo needs a strong game and the Sedins need to continue righting their ship which went belly up for a couple weeks there. With that said I say w...
