Big fan of Backlund, I wish he was a Nuck. Good signing by the Flames, future core player on the team, plays a gritty 200 ft gameHockey Widow wrote:Flames sign Backlund, 3 years at 3.575 per. I think a tad high but coming from a team that just re-signed Sbisa....I'll let it slid.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Well, its obvious now that it was a trade of baggage for baggage. We will find out next season if Kassian becomes a good pro or remains a flake. Either way both are extremely high maintenance.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Still think MG could have gotten a lot more for him at the time, had he made it known Hodgson was on the trade block. A lot of GM jobs have come up since the fans at Rogers Arena fired - Mike Gillis. Strange that his name wasn't even brought up in conversation for those vacated GM positions???? Mik...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
How does Petry go from everybody's favourite goat and whipping boy in Edmonton to that MASSIVE Mike Gillis handout contract in Montreal???? The same way Devan Dubnyk goes from career AHL'er playing for the Oilers and can't get a job on 3 NHL teams in one season to a Vezina finalist. Edmonton is rea...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
LOL Petry 6 year - $33 million at $5.5 million per vs Sbisas contract of 3 years at $10.8 million AND no NTC! Benning is such a bad man, must make Bergevin the new Mike "looking out for the players financial security" Gillis Wonder what the Big Softie, shitty defensivrlely, with one NHL fight in his...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Yeah don't think the Oilers can sit through waiting for a goalie prospect to develop, they have to start winning now and their goalie situation is awful. Get a quality vet and if they were smart they'd use their 16th overall pick and draft top goslie prospect - Ilya Samsonov, the kid is quite good....

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Sens get Matt O'Connor. So I wonder if Markstrom or Lack gets dealt for a pick still? It would be dangerous trading Lack? It's gotta be Markstrom now to be dealt While Lack may get us the better return I agree it is a risky move. Markstrom probably won't clear waivers again and part of his cap coun...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
The best thing that could happen to us is we sign Matt O'Connor, that would then make it easier to trade Lack and promote Markstrom. We'd get a far better return on Lack at the draft

What gives me hope for the Canucks post - Sedins is when UFA comes to Lucic, Kane and Johansen

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
As disappointed/pissed we may be imagine the problems in Pittsburg, Boston, LA, SJS. Tampa may join the list along with Washington or NYI. All teams with much higher expectations than us. Tampa and NYI are on the rise, they will be ok. But the others, well let's just say they have some rebuilding t...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Lancer - the Nucks are up against the cap as well, how can they take advantage of another team? Get KB3, Higgins and maybe Burrows too off the roster for picks/prospects by the draft; would free up about 10 mill I think. I'm not saying that would be easy to do, but I'm hoping GMJB is seeking Bieksa...

Pink Moon is a great album different vibe but low down yes. Poor Nick, took a Volkswagen commercial 30 years later and after his sad death to finally gain respect. Only sold a couple thousand of his 3 albums when he decided to pack it in, way ahead of his time, brilliant guitar player. If you want g...
