Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Is there even a second serious bid at this point? Seattle doesn't have a building (and just had a huge setback with the current arena proposal) and Quebec couldn't pony up the money to file an application...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I could see LA exposing Brown, Chicago exposing Hossa , whereas SJS would have to protect both Thornton and Marleau. Some GM's are said to be trying to trade a number of players they feel they would have to expose to get picks/prospects. Look for MAF to be traded if the Pens can do it. I hope they ...

Re: Canucks News and Notes 2016/17
Tough break for the kid, obviously you have to feel sympathy on a personal level, particularly because for a marginal NHLer a major years-long distraction at this age could play a part in ending his career in this league. Sign him to a cheap one year deal and give him another chance. Make it one way...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
A lot of talk in the media about how Stevie Y is going manage his salary cap over the next little bit here. So many of his good players on cheap contracts set for big pay raises. He must be loving the Garrison contract right now. Ole Mikey Gillis, gotta love him. Great trade by Benning getting rid ...

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
Michael Dal Colle. Went one pick ahead of Virtanen in 2014.
SKYO thinks he's a bust because his team (Oshawa) blew it up this year and he only scored 27 goals in 30 games (and another 6 in 9 in the playoffs) after being traded to Kingston.

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
Tkachuck is averaging 2.5 points a game in the playoffs. The guy is on fire yet it's Dubois or trade the pick for you. Brilliant strategy. He had future first line forward written all over him. I think the Coilers grab him anyways so we should get Dubois which I also have no problem with. Yeah I'd ...

Please expand on exactly how Green is not only an above average AHL coach, but also a superior NHL coach in waiting.

Re: 2016 Playoffs Round Two
Did you compose that entire thing with predictive text? :eh: What we know, according to you, is that Sutter was, and Bonino is, "the 3c toast of pittsburgh." (  ) I guess 'Canuck luck' is that Sutter got injured but hey, shit happens. Beyond that I don't expect that either team fleeced th...

Re: 2016 Playoffs Round Two
Has anybody noticed how well Bonino is playing? He had a good year in Pitt and is playing well in the playoffs. Actually Bonino was extremely shitty until sometime in March. They finally tried him with Kessel and both players caught fire! I'm very happy Pens are playing so well, the further they go...

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
The Sedins wont retire for another decade at least. They will just gracefully move up and down the line up. They are lifers here. They can adjust to lower lines; there ego(s) will permit it. Dude.. they are thirty five ! Lots of guys make it to 40, a few more to 41 or 42 but really only Che...

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
But look at the actual minutes being played.. four of the top five forwards and all five top defensemen in TOI/G were in the organization before Jim Benning. I appreciate the civilized counter-point! So in "five top defenseman", you must be counting Weber (also a FA, not sure if UFA or RFA?) and Hu...

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
If the Canucks can make the playoffs this year, with players like Baertschi, Horvat, Virtanen, McCann, Tryamkin playing meaningful minutes, and Pedan, Granlund, Etem, Gaunce playing depth roles, I daresay Benning will have pulled off the re-build on the fly - a virtually brand-new roster in 3 years...

Re: Canucks 2016 Post Season Discussion
It's just the nature of the beast. Those marquee players are going to get their money, and if you can't hide it in a lifetime contract or something of that nature it's going to come out of the pockets of the league's middle classes. If you haven't already, look at what Syko posted on the expansion ...
