Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Unless the cap starts going up, the Canucks aren’t adding many players with large contracts for many years. As the bad deals come off the books all of their salaries will be taken by resigning RFAs, Petey, Hughes, Demko next year, Boeser the year after. That's not quite right. 2021 -- Off the books...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Devon Toews to COL for 2x2nd rnd picks Legit top 4 young D man. Sakic is a gem. The dumb dumbs who like to piss away picks don’t understand the value of them as trade capital. Elmer is looking for his Mickey Agree that Sakic is a gem. What he's done has been unbelievable, and he's gotten his deals ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Lucas Wallmark to the Hawks for 900 K. Pretty much better than our entire bottom six. Is anyone even awake in Canucks management? Asleep at the wheel. But we got Beags and Sutts! Agreed. (EDIT: I don't think GMJB is asleep at the wheel on Wallmark. I think that Wallmark's not an option becaus...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Now there are comments floating around about an internal cap for this offseason after only recently the team stating they were going to be a cap team and then going all in on the short and long term OEL big ticket. It doesn't add up and only substantiates the appearances of having no plan and not b...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Fixed for truth Doc107 Truth is you're out to liquid lunch. Just before Covid, Bill Daly announced the 2020-21 salary cap would be between $84M and $88M. You're sitting there on a pile of your own excrement trying to justify the stench of dat dere. And beyond that, the Cap's average increase was 5....

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Taylor Hall's on his 4th team. Do winning teams not want him? Well, every player that goes #1 overall is going to a losing team absent a trade or very unlikely lottery results. New Jersey traded for Hall when they thought they had an elite goaltender and were among the best at suppressing goals. No...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

I wouldn’t say over achieved this year. I’d say they discovered how good they were this year in the first ten games of the season but it took until the bubble to figure out how to play team defense. I know it’s all about the free agency stuff, but mark this. They figured out how to play team defens...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Remember folks. Columbus just gave away Ryan Murray and Markus Nutivaara for a fifth round draft pick and Cliff Pu, respectively and that's a rough equivalent pair to Stecher/Tanev. Owners are instructing gms to unload contracts, finding a couple of defencemen in this climate should be easy. Time t...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Pierre LeBrun@PierreVLeBrun three years, $3.9 M AAV for Shattenkirk in Anaheim 12:10 PM · Oct 9, 2020· 31 years old and a terrible last couple of years. Ya! Tanev will be in demand. I remember him saying after the playoffs, probably out of emotion" that all he wanted was to stay with Vancouver. Who...

ESQ wrote: Fri Oct 09, 2020 10:14 am Holtby can't have an NMC, that was the stumbling block with Marky.

Increased the total cap space on goalies by $534k, that's pretty solid when you're adding a Vezina/Cup winner to be a backup.
But increased total cap space by less than what it would have cost to resign Markstrom.

David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod · 40s The Vancouver Canucks have signed UFA goalie Braden Holtby to a 2-year, $8.6M contract ($4.3M AAV). Edit: better not have a NMC. Right, better eligi...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

RFA Stecher on the clock 2pm deadline for QO. imac saying they might try to re-sign him to a lower AAV x2 yrs to avoid arbitration. Whatever the deal they are talking about with him, qualifying him is risky. Can see an arb award north of 3 million and south of 4.5 million. That’s an amount too high...

DAMN! Poile to buyout Kyle Turris 4 years of his contract - homie set for life 8 years X $2M US, kick back in paradise, invest some millions @ 4%, live off the interest, setup a trust fund for the kids. lol But he'll like get a cheap contract now, $2m-3m per to be a #3C. Well, he's made about $30 m...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

It’s all happening! Bonino to Minnesota for Kunin! Wow. Minnesota fleeced Nashville with the Granlund/Fiala deal and apparently the Wild feel the need to return the favor. Kunin is a former first rounder who is 22 years old and has shown step-by-step improvement every year. He might not be the firs...
