Re: Canucks Training Camp - News & Notes

Shinkaruk had NHL hands, footwork and I think given some more games will be thinking the game on a NHL type level. His problem is whether or not he has the strength. Likely not but I wouldn't be shocked to see him get a look see in the regular season if he continues to improve and elevate his game t...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

News out of Philly is that Cleary is going to attend their camp and once they clear space they will sign him to a 3 year deal worth $2.75 mil per season AND a NTC. Holmgren is either crazy or smarter than all of us. Way too much money for Cleary at this stage of his career and last time I checked he...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

First to set the record straight Hodgson had 34 points in 48 games, not 49. A rather huge difference. He had 13 in the second half of the shortened season (i.e. after everyone else had caught up to the AHL kids). His defensive game was indeed terrible. I'm not shocked Hodgson is looking to cash in o...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

I don't think you bring Burke in as just a president though. Doesn't seem a role he would like at all given his personality. He enjoys making and building teams and that is best done from the GM chair (in additional to the presidents chair).

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Burke has gone from being lambasted for years on that site to being a saviour they (mostly) all want in town. It saddens me that the Flames may hire someone who is much better than Feaster. I see them talking about Burke as GM and Feaster getting promoted etc. I'm thinking Burke doesn't join any org...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

The rumour mill is doing some churning today about a potential Stastny for Ryan Miller trade. Would be a big move for both teams and one I only seeing working if Varlamov is also going to Buffalo. Perhaps a center going back to the Avs given Stastny gives them an over abundance of them. Who knows if...

Re: 2013 FA Thread

I expect they'll leave the spots open for competition and maybe even rotate some of the youth in and out of the lineup the first part of the season. Torts wants the youth to steal someones job and if that happens you'll start to see a body or two move.

Re: Canucks News and Notes

The Torts interview piece yesterday I think sheds a little light on what we should expect. Torts will be looking to see who has the fight and mental fortitude to do what needs to be done through camp and the first month or so of the season. Those that don't will be cast aside in a hurry. Gillis has ...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

Certainly you do and I do and most true canuck fans do. The W is the only thing that matters. But beyond the first thing in my future prediction nothing involves those real fans. They may pretend it's the win that is most important but it's obvious that even if the W happens they will constantly be ...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

Let me predict the future. At the home opener, Lou will get a standing ovation from the fans when the starting lineup/team is announced. On Team 1040 the next day they'll be discussing about how it was complete BS and start a poll on when the city will turn on Luongo. To make sure they so they will ...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

Murray for cheap I'd be fine with. I know we'd all love to have 20 minute a night capable guys in the 6/7/8 slots but the fact is under a cap environment that simply isn't achievable (and certainly not this season with a low cap). As a #6 Murray would be fine...just don't expect much more than that ...

Re: The Glass is Half Empty....

There is a bunch of things wrong with David Booth's game. No question about it, but as a canuck through 3 injuries he has 17 goals and 32 points in 68 regular season games. For those struggling with the math that's a 20 goal and 40 point pace. And unlike a Mason Raymond instead of doing a button hoo...

NHL Sources Say is pretty much the anti-credible. Pay no attention to what that guy says. He's never broken anything.

But there is a first time for everything.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Mark Fraser contract appears to be 1-way worth $1.275. Heck of a lot of money for a guy that you likely want as a #8.
