Re: Keith Ballard

Count me in as confused as well. Ballard and Tanev at the beginning of the season quickly evolved into a very steady pairing and frankly were earning the right to move up the ranks in respect to playing time. The rest of the Canuck defence was basically out of sync and had Ballard played similarly h...

Re: Weise or Volpatti?

Even if Gillis knew Pinizzotto was coming back, he hasn't played in so long it would be reasonable to assume that he would end up in the minors so why the panic over waiving Volpatti. What is scary is that Ebbett continues to be a call up option in the case of injury. Surely there is some other play...

Re: Weise or Volpatti?

So the Canucks waive a player who they really didn't have to waive because of the injury to Kesler, and who is immediately claimed by another team, and replace that player with one who previously cleared waivers because no other team would claim him. I realize that it's basically fourth line players...

Re: Weise or Volpatti?

Never mind, Volpatti is claimed by the Caps. Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie Busy waiver day: "@DarrenDreger: Wsh claims Volpatti from Van. Flyers place Leighton and Sestito, Dal place Wandell on Waivers." yeah, I saw that too. Definately narrows our options a touch. Please... not Andrew Ebbett!

Re: Shane Doan

Things ain't over until the fat lady sings. While city council may have ruled the petitions to have the Jamison deal put to referendum were out of time, there are still the outstanding issues raised by the Goldwater institute. Originally Goldwater tried to stop city counsel from voting altogether on...

Re: Canucks resign Mason Raymond

Raymond has speed to burn and is decent defensively and can kill penalties. As frequently pointed out his biggest problem seems to be finding a direct path to the net while staying on his feet, and unfortunately his all to infrequent successful offensive forays generally fade from memory with his ne...

Re: Luongo will Waive NTC If Asked To

I think you have to take Dreger's comments with a grain of salt. Salt that is mined from the tears of Burke and Nonis. It is apparent that Dreger is trying to be Ellsworth Toohey. S_C What Dreger forgets is the Canucks don't have to trade with the Leaves. Given the Toronto situation Burke really is...

Re: Coach AV returns next year? Yes or No

Last year AV gets the team to the SC finals. The consensus as to why they lost is that the Canucks players were unable to deal with the Bruins in your face style of hockey. This year the LA Kings bring a hard fore check and clog the front of their net, absolutely level the Canucks best center man an...

Re: Game 5 playoff elimination - Luo or Ginger?

I hate to quibble with you but lets also compare the quality of the team in front of both Lou and Schneid's on the games in question Which is why I said in so many words all things being equal start the goalie with the hot hand. The last two games weren't exactly a cake walk for Schneider either, s...

Re: Game 5 playoff elimination - Luo or Ginger?

Assuming for the sake of argument at any given time both goalies are of equal talent, and on any given night one may out play the other, it comes down to who has the hot hand. Schneider in two games with 64 shots against has a save percentage of .969% with one win to his credit. Lou with 64 shots ag...

Re: Bald Ankles

...yeah, it's really a shame that Booth has so much trouble with the puck on the half boards and in traffic. Wheels, will, size, physical. good shot, but his hands, while not of pure stone, are far from soft and deft. A real shame. Could be a hell of a player. Maybe I'm being overly critical but th...

Re: Bald Ankles

Canuck management should have learned from last year that politically correct hockey goes out the window in the playoffs. Brown took advantage of a team that seems to do nothing more than yap when it's best players are leveled. Full credit to Sedin for getting up after the Brown hit, and more credit...

Re: The Sedin & Keith Affair

I would have no problem with the length of suspension if the league hadn't made such a commotion about eliminating head shots. It's the rationale that makes it hard to swallow, this is beyond mere wreckless behaviour. Intention isn't necessarily proven by overt statements, it can be inferred from on...

Re: The Sedin & Keith Affair

Looks like Keith may get six games and Daniel is possibly gone for a minimum of two weeks. What I don't understand is with concussions having been an issue over the last few years why the reluctance to deal with one of the major causes of such injuries, notwithstanding the behaviour of the players. ...
