Re: Lack over Lou

Lou was 0-5 prior to the Olympic break with a GAA of approx. 3.5 and a save percentage below .900. On a team that scores two goals on a good night that's game over. Lack over the last stretch was the better goal tender leading into the Ottawa game, notwithstanding where it was played, as if that som...

Re: Kesler has requested a trade

Well it seems Gillis may have learned something from the Lou debacle, it's not prudent to implicitly or overtly indicate that a player is no longer in the future plans of the club, and then go about trying to trade him. So it's no suprise that both he and Overhardt would either refuse to discuss the...

Re: Under Mike Gillis, has this team become a sideshow?

I have it on good authority that Gillis is gone and Rob Ford is the new GM :mex: ... no seriously...it's all about the process. Now Mayor Moonbeam and I have got to catch the mothership back to Andromeda, secure in the knowledge that the new Canuck's GM can also handle all things political while we'...

Re: The Fork in the Road

I voted significant retooling, but lean towards major rebuild. Two first round exits from the playoffs should have been an indication to Gillis that something needed to be done, and the changes needed to be more than cosmetic. The lack of critical player assessment over the last two and half years h...

Re: What's your opinion on what's happening to this Canuck t

How many years ago did Gillis make that statement on NTCs? Is it possible he's long since changed his position on that? Just asking. Also, I believe the only players with "full NTCs" are the twins and Bieksa. Even Luongo's contract has windows. Not saying he will definitely shake up the core before...

Re: What's your opinion on what's happening to this Canuck t

I'd say hands off any kids from Kassian to Horvat and pretty much anyone else could be had for the right price. If Gillis is sticking to his NTC word then that limits thing extremely. Basically, nothing of any significance is happening. We don't even have fringe players that competing teams would w...

Re: What's your opinion on what's happening to this Canuck t

Two years ago an arguably better version of this team exited the playoffs with barely a first round whimper. A repeat performance ensued the following year. Offensive production steadily declined. Presently the trend continues to the extent that the Canucks may not even make the playoffs. The suppor...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

It seems Welsh was a salary dump by Carolina ($1.0 mil one way contract), Utica bound. The interesting one is Dalpe. He is a center man but has played wing with Carolina since they are deep at center, but is waiver eligible,($550,000 one year two way deal) so it seems he may be getting a look with t...

Re: MacKenzie: Corey Schneider to NJ for 9th overall pick

It's not over yet, Gillis has 16 players signed and is now only $1mil below the cap. Sad to see Corey go but if there is no decent market for Lou then so be it. Horvat looks like he will fill a need and has a potential upside. Hes $4 million below the cap with 16 signed. Needs to sign Tanev, a 3rd ...

Ballard and more if Gillis is going to fill out his roster. 5 players plus Tanev who is no doubt looking for a raise.

Re: Coaches canned

AV was a decent coach, however it's what he couldn't do that cost him his job, and that is make adjustments during a game. While Cherry was quick to criticize Gillis, who no doubt is now under scrutiny as well, for throwing AV under the bus, there is no excuse for the Canuck power play to be as perp...

Re: Canucks Vs Sharks, Round I

Somebody pass me the meds so I can sit down and watch the LA series repeat itself with San Jose. I used to be reluctant to blame the coaching staff for the crap that some million dollar pro hockey players brought to the ice, and then respond with "We have to work harder", thinking to myself so why h...

Re: What would you do at the deadline if you were Gillis?

Hopefully Gillis at least looks to the future if he makes a deal at the deadline, there are too many problems with this team at the moment to expect anything other than an early playoff exit, assuming the Canucks even make the playoffs. It's pretty clear the team needs a major shakeup amongst the co...

Re: Keith Ballard

For what its worth from NHL stats: Games Player Giveaways 21 Edler 14 21 Garrison 10 21 Hamhuis 14 21 Tanev 8 19 Ballard 8 18 Bieksa 13 Alberts and Barker listed at 0. As far as Komisarek goes why would we want a player who can't even crack the Leaves lineup?
