League standing for stanley cup winners

Weird, some guy on Team 1040 today mentioned offhand that the last decade of stanley cup winners were all in the top 4 league wide standing at the end of the season. I checked and he's right but what I found weird was they were all either exactly in fourth place or exactly in 1st place, no other pla...

Re: All Star Game Idea

A caller on the Team 1040 had what I thought was a brilliant idea today: Every team has a skills competition, make the all star weekend a giant skills competition and every teams sends the winner of their own skills competition. This way a guy like Raymond who would normally never get to the all sta...

Luongo back next thursday?

Only if you believe that creepy weasel Al Strachan who declared this on yesterdays Hockey Night in Canada broadcast during the "hot stove" segment. I don't know what it is about that guy but he annoys me and he seems to always be quick with a certain prediction that is bollocks. Time will tell I gue...

Re: LaBarbera or Sandford?

I hate to say it, but LaBarbera seems to be playing over his head. Compare his LA stats to the starts in Vancouver, and I think his 'real' numbers would lie somewhere in between. The goalie doesn't play alone; I think it's like comparing aardvarks and astronauts, entirely meaningless. Facts are tha...

Re: LaBarbera or Sandford?

When everyone is healthy, who should stay? Who should go? Should it be Bobby Lou and the Sandman, or La La Luongo and La La LaBarbera? thoughs? I was wondering that myself with the news of Louie maybe coming back sooner than later. Sanford has played very well but so far Labarbera has played unques...

Re: Sundin Report

He looked a bit shaky to start, like a guy at a party full of people he doesn't know and not knowing where to turn to but he clearly got better shift after shift and near the end he was clearly getting comfortable. I was also impressed with some of his defensive plays nearer the end of the game. The...

Re: Hodgson score in the Gold Medal game!

For what it's worth... all Swedish commentators/experts had Hodgson as MVP of the tournament, and best player in the finals. Guess Tavares got the call based on his reputation. TSN had a major hard on for Tavares the whole tournament, they just couldn't stop fawning over him. I assumed it must be a...

Re: The SAVE

He deserved to win both those shootout games. I think these losses fall directly on the team. We had the chance to put the game away in regulation and we just didnt get it done. He did everything he was asked to do and more. These losses aren't his fault. He should be 3-0 not 1-0-2 Yup, I agree ent...

Re: Hodgson score in the Gold Medal game!

Cody Hodgson reminds me of Trevor Linden. The one the Canucks drafted 21 years ago, the one who took the C with pride, the one that brought us to the short end of the stick on a cup run in 1994, and for years was an impact player on this team....that Trevor Linden. I wouldn't trade him for that sni...

Re: Hodgson score in the Gold Medal game!

Hodgson is good, Tavares is better W...T...F? What coolaid have you been drinking? :) Just because Tavares was talked to death doesn't make him better. The TSN guys obviously are in love with him and couldn't shut up about him but the cold hard facts are that Hodgson stepped up in the critical game...

Re: PPV

I have Bell and sub to the HD Package and have an HD PRV and I have had ZERO problems. I've PVR'd or watched live, every game this season without a hitch. Weird? We had bell expressvu for years, almost a decade and when we decided to go HD they treated us like dirt. Over those years we had a *lot* ...

Re: PPV

PPV does suck, we've had issues with them nearly every single game so far this year on StarChoice. It's not just the ppv, if you have StarChoice HD the sportsnet HD broadcasts are a nightmare. They have two channels for sportsnet HD and they *very* often list the Canucks game in the onscreen program...
