Apologies to the title of this thread (hi-jack in progress), as some have pointed out, and I'm sure if we go back to other years, the goalie is part of the team. This is a team in transition. IMO it will take more than 20 games for this team to find itself. Has Luongo under performed? Everyone has a...

Apparently the sponsor (reebok) will be changing the jerseys League wide for next season.

Any changes to be made would most likely be made at that time to coincide with the "new look" NHL.

Have been reading this thread with some interest. At first, like some I didn't think it was worth a reply, but there have been some convincing arguments both ways. The key to any trade of Ohlund, Nonis would have to believe that such a trade would in fact better the team, as tant suggests. Whether w...

As WCE points out the Nucks had a .500 record vs the Flames last year.

The flames won the first 4 by one goal each game including a 6-5 shoot out win.

The Nux won the second 4. two in overtime (4-3 and 3-2) the others a 2-1 game and a 3-1 game (the only one of 8 to be decided by more than one goal.

Re: Some Observations Post-Ovechkin

Final thought, boy we sure are paying Chouinard 1.1 million for not a whole lot. Just 8 minutes of ice time. I like what I see from him in his role on the ice, but coach Vino sure doesn't seem to have much use for him. He was called out early in the pre-season, and he doesn't seem to be getting mor...

Good points WCE. Bourdon seems to be in a no win situation in terms of his developement. Almost too good to be in junior but can't be sent to the AHL because of his age. Playing 8 - 10 mins a night with the Nux will not help his developement IMO. If I'm a betting man, Luc gets his 9-10 games and the...

That may not be apparent in the numbers, but if you pay attention on how Markus plays over the years, you have to say that he's on a decline at the point of his career, when he looks slow on the ice and shots not accurate. What is also not apparent is the fact that he is no longer playing with Mo &...

As I've noted in the GDT last night, I'm a bit concerned about Naslund's deterioating skill level. He used to be able to score goals by picking corners with his wrister, and I don't see any of that this season. 5 G/4A in first 10 games 03/04. 7G/6A in first 10 games 05/06. 5G/4A in 10 games this se...

After game 7, Ohlund leads the team in hits with 12, Salo and Fitz have 6 each and Mitchell has but 2. An interesting stat, altho' as many have pointed out, the "hit" stat is not a true picture of what happens on ice. Don't those totals seem pretty low to you guys? I would have thought people like ...

After watching last nights game, I'm beginning to worry that our defensive depth is not the problem at all. Does it look to anyone else like (with a few notable exceptions) we are a team of 3/4 liners? Green (on the PP? for real?), Santala (what a penalty monster), Burrows should probably be playin...

Re: Sedin trade in retrospect

Back in 1999, a number of people had mixed feelings about Brian Burke's draft day deal to get both Sedins because it cost us Bryan McCabe. And as I recall, many were still questioning this deal up to last year. How many posts were directed at the "sisters" with the emphasis on sending them packing ...

I dunno if BXA, Fitz and Krajicek would look as good under Crow's schemes. Or even if they would be getting minutes. I think defence is what this team will need to do best. And really, except for that one game against San Jose, they've played pretty well against other teams... Agree at this point o...

Re: If Canucks traded Naslund for "equal value" de

While I might agree after the first 30 games of the season, that a Naslund trade might have merit, trading for another elite D man with a similar salary to Naslund's would not be in the best interest of the club going into the 1st game. With the number of moves this team has made, there has to be a ...

i would have just liked to have seen him sign longterm if we're going to pay him him 1.9. According to the CBA this can't be done until Jan. Kind of negates the value of developing your draft picks if you have to pay them top dollar and renegotiate every year during their restricted years. Totally ...

You're forgetting one small difference....all those players are signed at where their value is worth....some got higher contracts because of a PROVEN track record and/or Unrestricted free agency. Kesler's numbers are inflated only because that was the most Clarke could pay and not loose a 1st round...
