Good post Larry. It's important to remember how this team looked in the last quarter last season. Without their very strong start in '05 they wouldn't have even been close to the playoffs down the stretch. As Larry suggested, it is hard to compare, as these are two very different teams both in pers...

smalien what i meant by the injury statement is that, once Nonis determined Jovo's intentions vis a vis free agency and the chances of resigning him, which I suggest should have been done at the beginning of the 2005 season, the trade value on Jovo begins to run. I understand what you are suggestin...

Re: Trade (insert player) to free up cap space?

Call for Nonis to take action as much as you want. His hands are tied and this is the team we will probably see at least until the trade deadline in February. Good point, Issy. While many will say that Nonis tied his own hands (another thread is discussing this), the fact that Nonis has chosen this...

As mentioned in my first response, I agree with a lot that you have posted. However, a number of situations transpired that caused a reaction that for the most part (and I repeat, in hindsight) have led to how Nonis has shaped the team to date. The fact that the team under perforned last year (not m...

Might as well give these guys playing time as opposed to Santala, Chouinard and Bulis. I keep reading posts that infer Santala should be tossed for player A or B. Mostly someone from the Moose. Of the 28 games the team has played, he's playing 5-7 minutes in 9 games as a 4th line center and his sal...

Thought provoking, Arbour, and while I agree with most of what you point out as contributing to this year's woes, it is with the benefit of hindsight. Nonis's initial mistake was electing to stand pat last year, until he was forced to make trades because of injuries. While this has been debated as f...

Frustrating to be a Nuck fan. Watching the endless interviews with players and coaches they echo that as well. I'm sure no one saw this lack of production on the horizon for this season. But, given the new direction this team has taken, is it really a surprise ? And given their place in the division...

but for 750k I'd be willing to give him a shot. While I agree another veteran voice might be of value, this would not benefit the Nux as a whole. Hey, anyone's better then Santala. Hmmm....a 37 yr old LW vet for a 27 yr old 4th line center While I won't argue that I have the same confidence that No...

Be interested to see what his reason was. Salary vs points? (the most obvious, I s'pose.) If that is the case, can you say Fedorov or Forsberg or Elias? I would like these kind of comments made by media types to include their reason for making statements. Of course they are just "bites" with no subs...

This may be way too simple, but I say stay the course with the team we have now...these guys have not had enough time to develope an identity, except for being hardworking & not being able to bury their chances. Not too shabby. I yell at my TV just as much as you do but little things like Burrows h...

IMO players ARE rewarded for their past performance and the expectation that they will perform in a similar fashion in the future. That doesn't always work out, but who can adequately predict this? The thing is many if not the majority of people predicted that the Morrison, Cooke and Cloutier contr...

Interesting in this new cap era of the NHL how everyone is so dollar conscious when it comes to whether or not a player is called out. Not long ago it was Bertuzzi. Then it was that greedy Jovonovski. Then the Carter issue. Some rumblings have even started questioning Luongo. IMO players ARE rewarde...

More to the point, what were your expectations of the team being a .500 team at the beginning of the year, and has your opinion changed? A .500 team would be 10 points below the point total of last years "disaster". That would total 5 wins or any combination of wins and overtime losses. IMO going in...
