Re: The Rebuild...

Biega's contract probably guarantees he gets claimed. I disagree. What team grabs a #8 defenceman that they will 100% guarantee to pay close to a million a year to play in the AHL? its a 1 way contract. every team has a guy (or 2) in this position that nobody else will claim. I think Biega's contra...

Re: Canucks Contracts

That’s my point really. Unless Canucks are going big right now Boeser is better served to do a 2-4 year deal, which will still be rich, but then go for the payday. I’m sure Canucks would love to lock him up for 7-8 years for 6 or under right now. Given the injury scare, I think he’d want the guaran...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Mr Meat & Potatoes, Tom Wilson re-signs $5M+ per x 6. NEWS | Capitals re-sign forward Tom Wilson to a six-year contract, $31M worth an average annual value of $5.17 million I like Wilson but I’m a little wow on that one. Horvat deal looking better and better. It’s high (and long), but Wilson has th...

Great guy, great captain, great hockey player for a few years, but a pretty crappy president...
You are extremely happy with how things have gone the past 4 years, yet the guy in charge of Hockey Ops gets zero credit for it?

mmmmmmmmk

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

Hey, look; No disrespect to Trevor whatsoever. Honest, hard working player and from anything I've ever heard, a good captain. When ownership hired him, I said this is a desperate move to try and quell the discontent of the fans with a name they would connect to. Linden had, at that point distanced ...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

But would it surprise anyone to learn that they had expectations from Linden when they hired him and those expectations haven't been achieved? It wouldn't surprise me at all if the marching orders when Lindenning was hired were "we expect to make the playoffs". That alone doesn't make them meddleso...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

Shanahan approached T.O ownership and proposed a full tank rebuild. They accepted. The Aquas have never loved the idea of a “full gut” rebuild, as noted with the firings. It explains all the messy veteran signings and trading picks for vets, too appease the brats. Tough place to work with bosses li...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

I think it was mutual. Ownership wanted to reign in control. Trevor didn’t sign up for that. They agreed to part ways. Would have preferred less Aqualini not more. At this point, that seems to be logical reasoning behind this move, and I'll agree with UK. Yep. I've yet to see anything that indicate...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

Curious to know why. It never seemed like a great hire. Always such a cliché to bring the former fan favourite back to run things. A little bit sad in Vancouver’s case, because (despite a good run), it’s not like he led the Canucks to fantastic heights as a player. “Nice guy, tries hard” and all tha...

Re: Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019

I like that he improved this past season -- particularly in using his speed and cutting hard to the net from time to time. When my brain adjusted from "power forward" to "fearless fast guy," I started to see more potential. But he hasn't earned a dollar more than he signed this contract for.... I a...

Re: Who would rather see this place without the Dude/Doc vs Blob/IN flame war?

I doubt the casual observer wants to see 2-3 pages of every thread degenerate into the predictable shitshow, so I'm be more than happy to dial it back.

Then again, I'm equally happy to keep calling out the zealots for nominating Benning as a candidate for the presidency of Mensa Canada.

Re: Canucks Contracts

I think Sven Baertschi's last deal (2 years, $1.8M per) makes sense.

It's a raise, but it essentially gives Jake two years to decide if he wants to rise up the depth chart and make some real money, or if he's destined to become a depth energy forward.
