It was crap for crap... how can that be?

Edit: Although it should be said that corsi seems to like Kassian. I dunno, maybe there's something there for him as something other than a power forward?

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

The Ducks were kind of in a damned if you do, damned if you don't territory. They want to win a cup, and Kesler will be a big part of making that happen. So they can't trade him. They also can't let him reach free agency. The deal is probably 2 years too long and a little high on the cap, but what ...

Re: 2015 Canucks Draft Roundup

This is a great time to be drafted by Vancouver. Yeah, you'd have to think a guy like Briesbois is looking at the sad state of our defence and thinking he could be on this team in a couple years. The competition is stiffer at forward, but the D is wide open. Mayyybe... but that doesn't tend to be h...

Is Copps in Hamilton still a viable rink?

I very much doubt it. The retrofit required to get it up to par in terms of boxes etc. would probably just result in a new arena anyway.

Well said Hockey Widow. And any executive that gives a darn about what his moronic fanbase thinks is not a good one. 98% of sports fans are slobbering, reactionary loons with whom I'm ashamed to share species designation. The truth is that most of what Benning has done so far is really insignifican...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

It will be nice change to have lowered expectations for a change and just relax and watch the rebuild. Yes indeed. I can't believe people are quibbling about the relative merits of third line players or the contract quality of said when we're discussing a team that has NO CHANCE of being anything. ...

Re: Free Agency 2015

I expect that Matthias will have a decent season. I heard a stat that the VAST majority of his points last year came against Eastern teams...and that he finished well in the double digit minus category (+/-) against the West. So there's that...plus the fact that he is playing for a long term contra...

Re: Free Agency 2015

Iginla trade: moved to Pittsburgh for two unsigned college players (Ben Hanowski and Kenny Agostino) and the Penguins' first-round pick in 2013. That should be what we are looking at for Hamhuis, in the best case scenario. Vrbata much less. If we expect too much we will be disappointed once again. ...

Re: Pick Your Least Favourite Benning Move

The reason I didn't like the Miller signing had more to do with I wanted the rebuild to start last season. I didn't even like the Vrbata signing strictly because of letting the prospects play, of course not that siging looks freaking great and I put it around 95% that Vrbata will be traded by TDD. ...

Re: Pick Your Least Favourite Benning Move

Sbisa totally. I don't get anyone being upset about Miller's contract? It will be over at just the right time and no six million dollar player was bringing this core back to life. I can't blame Benning for Gillis giving NTC's to okay players like Bieksa. The value of picks seem lost on people, but I...

Re: Kassian traded to Habs...

Why is everyone slotting in Virtanen for this year... I sure as shit wouldn't bring him up. What's the incentive on a treading water/slowly sinking squad (It seems like next year might be the tank year) like this unless he absolutely rips the heck out of the A?

Re: Kassian traded to Habs...

Prust I guess?

Meh fine I guess. Kassian away from the twins is a bit of a disaster and it would seem he's a bit of a pain in the ass. Not sure we lose any actual grit in Prust, just the illusory value of big thugs to which I guess some folks still cling.

Re: 2015 Canucks Draft Roundup

Yeah, the new Bo said he was excited to get drafted and all and said all the right things, but his body language said otherwise. I hardly saw a smile out of him, it was like his body was saying, I got drafted by the Vancouver Canucks, big whoppie doo. Maybe I'll play there one day, maybe I won't. R...
