Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

The Horvat trade will be scrutinized until Horvat turns into a legit top six NHL player. If he doesn’t pan out, then of course that trade will have been a failure. By the time you can fairly judge Horvat's ability to be a top six (2-3 years from now at the earliest), Luongo will be 37 -38 and the " ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Okay Islander, you're officially an ass. You may trust your interpretation of the massive CBA, but I'll go with the general consensus thanks. On the subject of the Flyers..... http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/frequentflyers/Trade-in-works-for-Flyers.html It’s important to note that the first day o ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

No, Franson has steered himself for the big pay-day next year as a UFA - and likely not with T.O. given how these negotiations went down. Wouldn't be surprised if he signs elsewhere for less, or if No-Nuts has to significantly over-pay for his services - even assuming he has an equivalent year this ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

War of Words going on in Ottawa. The League says they won't investigate this, but if I'm the New Jersey Devils I'm asking "Why not!?" Alfredsson admits he and the Senators planned to circumvent the salary cap and that he planned to retire before this past season (where he made only $1M) so that the ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Should the Canucks offer Brule a tryout? It should be a no brainer (low risk, high reward) http://www.theprovince.com/sports/resurrection+Gilbert+Brule/8668967/story.html It seems like the Kings are shopping Clifford. MG was pretty high on Clifford before trading for Kassian. Does MG have enough to ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Carl Hagelin re-signs in NY - 2yrs @ $2.25M per http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=427391 Pretty good comparison to Hansen - similar gritty two way-game, agitators, fast, good on the PK, some offence, both stink on the powerplay - every time the coach puts them out there they stink. You'd think Hansen ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

That's what is so weird about cap circumvention. Clearly the Flyers are circumventing the cap by keeping a retired player on LTIR. Clearly the Islanders are circumventing the cap when they trade for, then suspend, then don't pay Tim Thomas but use a loophole to have it count against the cap floor ...

Somewhere Jewie's little heart is breaking.
I remember the time one of his handles suggested Lecavalier's #4 would be retired league wide after he retired. Hell, Ballard's #4 will be retired before Lecavalier's is

Seen that they said Gonchar can help with the young kids, me thinks they are just going to flip him at the deadline for a 1st or 2nd rounder. :|

Good signing by Dallas.
