Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings

If we’re considering old guys (like Doan), Pavel Kubina warrants consideration. I'd be wary of Kubina. He got a contract last year from a GM desperate for NHL calibre defensemen, got traded to another team absolutely desperate for NHL calibre defensemen in Philly and even then they scratched him th...

Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings

Foster & Meuller are definitely gambles. Both could be suitable reclamation projects, but may not fit play or personality objectives. Foster has been a bit of a bounce-around/malcontent since he smashed up his leg. Mueller plays soft & had the concussion problem. If we’re considering old guys (like ...

Re: Canucks resign Mason Raymond

the problem is he doesn't fit here I don't expect this to change, but can't help hoping he'll turn the corner the right way. The thought of Raymond brings visions of repeating button hooks ending in crash landings. Charlie Brown on ice. ...On the second line he is useless because he's not a great p...

Re: Semin should go home

If you're into rumours (it's pretty slow out there)...

The Bleacher Report shows a rumour for a 30 M$ offer to Semin from the KHL.

Very happy - if Luongo could get all that.

Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings

..But if Weber wants to play in Vancouver and Vancouver is the only place he'll sign long term it becomes the only real option for Poile .. Gillis’ options would include: (A) trading with Poile in the hope of improving the team this year or; (B) waiting to contract Weber next year, give up no asset...

Re: Semin

The only players that can have performance bonuses in their contracts are those on entry level deals and those meeting very specific requirements - I believe they are tied to age and games missed the previous season due to injury, so for a 28 year old who played 77 games last year it's probably not...

Re: Semin

If Semin would take a heavy incentive package with little base pay it could work out great. Else, after floaty days, he'd get nailed to the pine by AV. Worst case incentive pay outs would tie up lots of cap, but we got cap space. When he wants to play, he's a good shot blocker, as well as having sic...

Re: 2012/13 season - what ONE player do we still really need

Daniel Alfredsson would look mighty good with the twins. The opportunity to win a cup with them (& a hefty raise) may be enough to lure him from retirement. Given the esteem with which Ottawa holds him (the desire to see him go out in style), & limited leverage, the price for his rights may be reaso...

It's all fun & games - until someone pokes an eye, or an ego.

I preferred to think of it as more parody, less sarcasm.
