Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

"The alternative is to have a losing franchise and losing franchises are only loved for so long." I think Ken Holland has it wrong, at least in Canada. You just have to look at the attendance records for the Canadian hockey clubs to see that Canadian hockey fans will tolerate loosing hockey clubs fo...

Re: Farhan's $0.02 - Canucks' penchant for "breathers" will.

And Boston was 3, 6, and 2 against the playoff teams in the West last year, and 5, 1, and 1 against the non play off teams.

Not much different than the Canucks record.

Re: Dec 28 - Canucks at Sharks - 7:30 PM - TSN

Brent Burns has a Corsi Rel of 24.5, and his Corsi Rel last year was 9.5. To compare, Dan Hamhuis Corsi Rel is 7.7, and last year was 9 (5vs5 numbers, higher is better). The Corsi Rel number for Burns has been even higher earlier this year, and likely he is going to have some bad games and see his C...

Re: Farhan's $0.02 - Canucks' penchant for "breathers" will.

Farhan I enjoy reading your comments. I too get really miffed for some unexplainable reason when the Canucks seem to take a night off against teams they should beat. I don’t know about the last few years, but I did see some information posted about how they did against the bottom dwellers last year,...

Hey Fred

I think that quote came from an article in the Globe and Mail about Lucic's one game suspension:

Re: Officiating

Last year, especially during the playoffs, someone, and I forget who, was doing an excellent penalty analysis. That is, not looking at just the total number, but also the significance of the penalties (like the time of game they were called and the game situation at the time). If I was the GM of the...

Re: Discussion: Should the NHL adopt an "amnesty clause"

There was an article about the NBA clause over at the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/28/sports/basketball/each-nba-team-can-waive-one-bad-contract.html?_r=1 In the end, I wonder if such a clause really benefits the rich teams who are most likely to make dumb deals in the first place. Inter...

http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/sports/nhl/blackhawks/chicago-blackhawks-need-to-look-for-help-now-20111208 In an article entitled, “Blackhawks Need To Look For Help Now” by Al Cimaglia (Dec 8/11), there are some interesting comments. One theme had to do with playing a “gritty” style of game versus ...

Top 25 NHL defensive defensemen so far in 2011-12 (Dec 12/11)

I see Josh Georges is number 3 on this list. I am not sure if there is anyone else on this list that might be available, and that would fit with the team.

Re: GDT Canucks at Senators CBC 4pm PST

I realize that the fourth line statistics have a lot of variables which makes them hard to compare, but its hard to find some objective basis of comparison, rather than just depend on subjective feelings about the players for comparison, and without delving deeper into statistical analysis. I meant ...

Re: GDT Canucks at Senators CBC 4pm PST

I was curious about the fourth lines of some of the teams Vancouver may meet up with in the playoffs, and, as best I can tell because of course they change around a fair amount, here they are. I am not sure who "the best" of this bunch might be, but these are the kind of players that Vancouver has t...

Mike Milbury is an idiot. In the second intermission in the Van-Ottawa game, he compared hockey to mixed martial arts.....its okay to beat your opponents brains out in mixed martial arts, so it should be okay in hockey too. Who can argue with that kind of logic. I didn’t put a question mark there as...
