Re: Free Agent "Frenzy" Day

The one thing that stands out for me with these two extensions - Garland, Demko and Beoeser re-upping, is, if Pettersson was the problem in the room, then it certainly wasn’t enough to steer the three Americans in another direction. Bear in mind that a couple years ago, two of the three (Boeser and ...

Re: Free Agent "Frenzy" Day

According to Puckpedia, none of Garland, Boeser or Demko got trade protection. I have to believe that's not accurate and will be updated once all the contract details are known. Demko and Garland don't have it until 2026-27, when the contract kicks in. So if you were looking at next year and didn't ...

Re: Free Agent "Frenzy" Day

Oh, and the guy that came over with Bear from Carolina, Lane Pederson -- who played a few games for the Canucks before getting taken off waivers by Columbus, has signed in Philly. Phantom fodder I suspect.

Re: Free Agent "Frenzy" Day

Sammy Blais gets an NHL contract. To Montreal.

Former Canuck Ethan Bear to the Islanders for league minimum.

Brandon Tanev, 3 yr/2.5M AAV to Utah, which seems like a good fit from them. That team looks pretty good.....

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26

Taken from another hockey board; According to an insider on HFOil, Bowman was 100% confident that Boeser was signing with the Oilers, and the Canucks completely blindsided them. They moved Arvidsson this morning for this, and now they’ve lost Perry, Brown, Arvidsson and Kane with no replacements. ...

Re: Free Agent "Frenzy" Day

I really didn't see Boeser resigning. Probably is under the AAV Canucks already offered, but more term. And I suspect that's what Boeser was hearing -- we like you, but not at 6-7 years. No trade protection. As for the center gap, as I said before, there would always be a gap in the Top 6, and if ...

Re: Free Agent "Frenzy" Day

Jake Allen reups in New Jersey -- 5 years, 1.8M AAV. Given that he's 34, it might be more reasonable to think of this as providing 3 year 3M value at a 1.8 AAV, and if Allen starts an age decline or gets the yips, more than 2/3rds of the AAV can be buried in the minors once the league minimum ...

Wouldn't want that player at that cost. But Suter's probably grinning ear to ear.

Arvidsson in Boston -- another possible "match" for Boeser (like LA and Kuzmenko) filled with a kind of sort of scorer.

Re: 2025 Canucks Off-season

Hey Demko, with the physical durability second only to Sami Salo, looks to be signed. 3 x 8.5 - Let's hope he pulls a Tanev. Garland - 6x6 - he worked for it. Both with full NMC. A bit surprised that Demko’s is that much. The risk was mitigated by contract length, not AAV. As sour as last season w ...

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26

Bouchard staying an Oiler on an Edmonton-style show-me contract…..4 years @ $10.5M. Bahahaha. Bowman smarter than most of his predecessors at least. The former regimes would have locked Bouchard up for 8 years, and likely another mil per. He couldn't do another million (without shedding salary e ...

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26

And Ekblad re-ups for a lower AAV as well. $6.1M x 8….. $1.4M less than his prior contract. And I just saw Bennett signed for $8M. That one will age badly. But for the next 3 years Florida is laughing with these 3 guys coming back for such friendly contracts. The Cats locker room wants to win. I c ...

Re: 2025 Canucks Off-season

Surprised Cole McWard and Tristan Nielsen were not qualified, particularly Nielsen. I'm actually a bit surprised McWardo wasn't qualified cuz they seemed quite high on him b4. I remember one year, they actually thought about keeping him around with the big club at the start of the season. They keep ...

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26

Marchand re-signs in Florida. 6 years! (Elliotte Friedman reports the contract is for an average of about $5.3 million per season.) Also - Kuzmenko on one-year, $4.3M deal with Kings Marchand, 6 years. LOL. That's one way to keep the AAV down. Good for Kuzmenko to get that deal. He ought to send ...

MITCH MARNER SIGNS AN 8-YEAR DEAL WITH A $12M AAV IN VEGAS IN A SIGN-AND-TRADE WITH THE leaves
Roy to Toronto. So Vegas had to dump some salary.

Stone and Pietrangelo can negotiate who's on LTIR when.
