Re: Seattle Expansion/Canucks players

The slow and steady rebuild through the draft needs to get goosed with more picks and prospects; the challenge for the Sharks will be turning the existing group into assets. It sounds trite, but the rebuild needs to get goosed with better picks and prospects, not just volume. I don't think it is a ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Nice to see Baercheese get another chance with the Knights. He couldn't crack our lineup though, so it's going to be tuffer to try to crack a Vegas squad. Looks like the One-Eyed, Bro Bro Rafferty got a one-way deal with the Ducks. Heard there were a lot of teams interested in him. Still found it k...

Re: Seattle Expansion/Canucks players

Doug Wilson and the Sharks seem to be making a strong move for Wright this year judging by their actions/lack thereof today. The anti Canucks if you like, If you like a long term plan, slow, steady rebuild through the draft the Sharks will be an interesting watch. The Sharks are the anti-2021 Canuc...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 21-22

There's quite a bit of handwringing on this board (and more elsewhere) about some kind of future Canucks team that has never existed and might never exist. While every GM should be aware of the team's future self, unless a team is entering or in a rebuild, teams shouldn't sacrifice the present for t...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 21-22

Could the Canucks have done better? I would have preferred Poolman + Hamonic get rolled into a single player. But who? Were it not for the playoffs, David Savard would have nothing but red flags for how he's looked the past 3 seasons. Moving from a solid top 4 mostly-stay-at-home to a shaky top 6 a...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

So 29 year old Zach Hyman at 7 x $5.5 million and one dimensional defensive liability Tyson Barrie at 3 x $4.5 for the Oilers. Great news for Canucks fans, makes the Garland deal look like gold. Big day for Benning to get the right side looked after so everybody but Vegas can be put in the division...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 21-22

In the past week, all the bases got covered. On D: Schenn's fine as a 6/7. Hamonic is fine at that term and price. OEL is an upgrade on D, even as a well-rounded top 4 instead of top pairing guy. The realistic downside is how Schmidt played after the early season gaffes were forgotten. The realistic...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 21-22

A little late on the trade. The Canucks were pretty bad last year. They needed to improve on D and we’re losing 2 of their top 6. The Canucks were shallow in the top 6. The Canucks lacked a lot of room because of the anchors. In one swoop, all of these problems were solved. Yes, it took a 1st and 2d...

Re: Seattle Expansion/Canucks players

D depth is unreal and will of course thin with trades. I can see a draft picks, prospects, or forwards strategy. Really? I don't see it. I see a lot of 6/7/8/9 defenceman, on absolute bargain contracts, but I don't see a D that is a deep as, to use an example, Vancouver (and our D depth is terrible...

Re: Seattle Expansion/Canucks players

This is what you’d expect. Thought they might go for one high octane though past prime forward but they resisted, smartly I think. Still, it’s a pop gun offense unless there’s a William Karlsson in there we don’t know about or guys like Lind (or any other 22-24 yo with limited track record) steps up...

In hindsight, good thing the Canucks won that series against Minnesota.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger Key signing for the Winnipeg Jets. Adam Lowry, 5 years, $3.25 million aav. 12:49 PM · Apr 16, 2021 28 year old with a much better record then Brandon Sutter. Yikes, $3.25 to age 34 for a guy who's never cracked 30 points. That will be a bad contract in year 3 of it As op...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Come on! It was a dirty hit. True, but a hit like that doesn't usually result in a suspension. (hell, one could argue a hit like that has never resulted in a suspension) Did you watch the videos of knee-on-knee hits Friedman put together? Five minutes + game misconduct should have been enough in my...

Splitting hairs? Large scale and or wide spread voter fraud of the kind that swings federal elections. The issue is that the republicans create a problem that doesn’t exist essentially to save face and then solve that fictitious problem with legislation that has the added bonus (for them) of discou...
