Re: Apparent contradiction?

Count me as one of those as being a little confused by the messaging that Benning is providing us. He acquires 3 new FAs during the off-season (Beagle, Rousel, and Schaller), which supports his contention that they will make the Canucks harder to play against - super! (but not so super terms). Then...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

I really think this will be the last year for some time that we see the Canucks in a great drafting position, the last year before we see a real changing of the guard and a new core starts to build. I agree with most of the rest of your post, but I disagree with this part - the draft lottery has to...

Re: When will the Canucks Next make the playoffs

Lmao at the Gaunce hate. The guy is a 4th liner making peanuts yet he’s the issue. Gaunce isn’t the issue, he’s actually a good depth piece. I see him and Granlund as callup depth. If gaunce could just find that extra gear and play with a little more snarl (not talking hits more just being an assho...

Re: Captain my Captian

If Edler would sign for 3 years, money isn't much of an issue. The contract will be over when Juolevi's ELC ends, and a year before Hughes' ELC ends.

I'm gonna say 85-95 points.

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Goldobin has shown significant improvement in each of his pro years. He's in the final year of his ELC, and has shown what you want to see from a good offensive prospect. I'm not saying he's going to be a star, but it's a little early to write him off. Being a Mason Raymond is actually a pretty good...

Not to be Debbie Downer, but anyone want to bet me we finish the season with the same core they start the season?
C'mon man, this isn't the thread for such realism pessimism!

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 18-19 Sponsored by SKYO

I like the Kesler comparison - JB really needs an extra 1st this year to seal the deal. Try to move Edler and/or Tanev for an extra 1st, pump-and-dump guys like Hutton, MDZ, Leipsic, Baertschi, and replenish the picks given up for Karlsson. Ottawa needs everything - picks, prospects, roster players,...

Re: Francesco Ballard

I frankly don’t have the time right now, but would love to see the results of a comparison between the teams under corporate ownership (ie-Rogers, Comcast, MSG, etc) and private ownership in terms of team success since the cap came in. More than numbers of Cups, what the comparison is with winning ...

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

Tell that to Colorado - that 1st for Duchene the year after the Sens made it to the ECF is now looking like a lotto pick.

I agree it's a gamble, but that kind of gamble seems to be the only way to acquire a high lotto pick.

Isn’t it easier to make a deal now for another 1st before the season starts, especially to a team like the Oilers? If we wait until December or TDD then teams in bottom 10 won’t be moving their pick.
I like it! Take advantage of the Coil's misplaced optimism!

Re: 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT - Vancouver

Lol Stone has averaged ten more points a year and is three years younger and a much better two way player. Yes they are exactly the same. First, that's not true, Stone averages more PPG and fewer GPG. So we can quibble about a couple points, but it doesn't change the fact that Stone is a 50-6...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 18-19 Sponsored by SKYO

Point is nobody drafted two seasons earlier was likely going to make much of an impact on a cup run. That's interesting, I thought that as a rule every recent Cup winner had key players on ELCs on their roster. Pens 2009 - Letang and Staal Hawks 2010 - Craword, Kane and Toews Bruins 2011 - Seguin w...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Oh Jeebus. Oilers get Jack Hughes. :scowl: Or maybe they give us a 1st for Tanev That is a trade I could see happening. Oilers 1st for either Tanev or Edler. Something along those lines make sense for both sides. I doubt it, it'll be another lotto year in Edmonton, no way do they part with their 1s...
