Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

I wonder if next year's first would be in play for an Hanifin-type player? Hanifin can improve the team today, as well as be a solid addition for the future/next 8-10 years. But if you move next year's 1st, you're gambling that the team climbs further out of the tank next season. I would be very com...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Lol Tryamkin doesn't have sandpaper! I don't think I've ever seen a more dangerous player on the canucks. Every shift, he had the potential to the an opponent's career/season. Ask Benn or Richardson. He didn't have a killer instinct, but he is physically such a freak that he didn't need to be trying...

Re: Playoffs

I think I prefer seeing Vegas exploit the stacked expansion draft model, to seeing a team move from Canada and win (I.e. Avalanche). I felt cheated when Tampa won after "only" 13 years of futility. However, Tampa's success in the community is tied to that Championship. From a business perspective, t...

Re: Playoffs

Nobody has written any book on Juolevi but if you actually paid attention maybe indulge me exactly who the d man are that are top 10 picks recently who can’t crack the league at 19-20 who’ve turned into top pairing guys. Pietro is the only one and he didn’t make the Blues in his D 2 year because of...

Re: Playoffs

LOL his eye was swollen right after the fight. LOL got any proof of that? He has 20 more goals and 43 more assists. Are assists and points not important? Sure, but 13 of those goals and 17 of those assists came on the PP. Where he gets 3 min/gp to Jake's 17 seconds. Take out the PP time (which Jake...

Re: Playoffs

Lol Virtanen had a huge black eye after that fight Lol that's not true. He had a huge black eye from deflecting a puck off his face for a goal, not from little Bobby's rabbit punches. ] But Tkachuk is a far better player than Jake Meh. 20 more career goals with 4 more GP and an extra 4:00 ATOI. Bet...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

Until Tryamkin comes back or Dobson/Boqvist/Hughes/Bouchard is ready the Canucks should keep as much potential as possible and see if the coaches can earn their stripes and develop their younger players. We know the journeymen won’t be around when the Canucks turn the corner. Very well said. Though...

Re: Playoffs

For an 18-year old, he did pretty good IMO against a 26-year old goon/enforcer.

Re: Playoffs

To put it simply, a successful team has quality forwards and dmen prospects, and if defense wins championships, how are you going to build a championship team if you always take forwards (bpa)? Via Trade - a hockey trade Sergachev - Drouin Jones - Johansen Myers - Kane All three trades involved a f...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

/ His big battle was with Babcock to take Marner over Hanifin in the draft, which worked out well in the short term, but I think longer term Hanifin could be more valuable to a team. meh who knows. Ya, I noticed that in the Toronto (slash national) coverage that Hunter was being praised for that pi...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Evander Kane has re-signed 7x7 with the Sharks. I'm not surprised, $7M x 7 is what I've been saying he'd get for some time now... Agreed, I'm just saying wouldn't have wanted to have to beat that offer, plus the premium for not playing in the sunshine, higher taxes, etc. I wouldn't have wan...

Re: Playoffs

Every team lost an "asset" in the expansion draft, come on Cliffy... A complete red herring. Yes, of course everyone lost an asset in the expansion draft. The point is the value of the asset. If Sbisa was not one of the 3 defensemen worth protecting, he wasn't much of an asset, and the Kesler trade...
