Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Right. But do the Canucks want to again be the team that plays that kind of hardball with one of their franchise level youngsters? I doubt Benning and the Aquamen repeat the sins of ownership and management past, they'll deal fairly with him and Petey. I think they will absolutely open with that of...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

With the potential for a fucked up season including the potential of the Comet moving to a Canadian city during the pandemic Louie may have no incentive to mutually terminate his contract. Especially if they make the Comet play in Vancouver or close by. And travel will be controlled to prevent the ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Now with this chatter from the Vegas owner about how their time might not survive without ticket sales next year...I'm now thinking of how much 21/22 will get shortened. No way do they do 82 games. Do they even manage 41 games? Then a play-in round? If they all need fans in the seats, maybe they don...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

There's a very real option of short-term bridge on Hughes. These out-of-college signings can sign for less on their second deal, because they have no leverage other than sitting out. I could see Hughes signing for 6ish for 2 years. That lets you sign his 8-year extension to take him to 32, after Lou...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

I will tell you this: I hated the Avalanche in the 2000s, but that hatred ended with division realignment. Now I can't help admire Mackinnon and Rantanen and Makar ... and Sakic. They are a team I watch when I have the chance because they are entertaining and impressive. I am not a fan of the team,...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 2020-2021

Another interesting tidbit from Vegas owner Foley: "It's one reason why I was really in favour of keeping both goalies — I really felt like we're going to be playing four games in seven nights every week. There's going to be a back-to-back almost every week," he said. "...So I was always working to ...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

No this is old news. With the lack of revenue the new CBA agreement has a 20% escrow this season (down to 6% in later years). On top of that there is a 10% additional hold back this season that the players could get back in later years if the revenue improves enough, but it probably won’t so practi...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

I think we've had this debate a few times - either you're a big Sakic fan (understandable), or you're a big Avs fan (unforgiveable!). So, Sakic started in 2013. He hired his buddy Patrick Roy as head coach, and rocketed off to a 52-win season. Surely, you would agree that season - the best regular s...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

So maybe they tried and failed to make something happen with Krug or Pietrangelo, but I'm thinking the Rangers are lying in wait for something else and taking a book out of the Sakic playbook . So if you are the GM of the Rangers, who are you targeting? Does Sakic have a playbook, or does the Avala...

Or, perhaps Loui is going to do the right thing and retire, saving all of us a lot of trouble. Maybe hook him up with a plum scouting position in Sweden.

Yuck.... Vatanen and Hamonic are Stecher level players at this point and they will both get paid a hell of a lot more. No thanks. Explore the trade route Elmer. Vatanen would be good @ a cheap price & he'd help Juolevi I bet, finlanders He's coming off a 4,875,000 contract. He won't be cheap. Anoth...
