Re: BRIAN BURKE'S TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS

If you want a reference point, Doug MacLean is a "sham". He destroyed the Jackets. That man had no business being at the helm of an NHL franchise. BB is an asshole, a bully, a blowhard. But he's not a sham. Hm ok, interesting comparison. Columbus' record under Doug Maclean was 172–258–62 from 2000/...

Truly one of his best rants of all time! Right up there with women at hockey games.

Re: OOTS

A real moral conundrum this morning - Boston beats NYR and Canucks stay in 1st overall. NYR beats Boston, I have the satisfaction of seeing Boston's tailspin continue.

Overall, I prefer Boston losing :D 4-3 in regulation

Re: BRIAN BURKE'S TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS

You still haven't shown me why Brian Burke is a sham. I think he's a sham because he has not improved his team at all in 4 years. If you look at teams with a similarly-pathetic record since the lockout, only Burke's Leafs have been near the salary cap ceiling, the others (Atlanta, Florida, Columbus...

Re: Advanced stats/ Moneypuck

The big problem with advanced stats in hockey is the human factor in recording the base events. I don't know much about advanced stats, but I'm curious what you mean by this? The human factor in things like hits and faceoffs is huge, and I don't think it will "even out" in the averages. For example...

Re: So the Axe falls.

Somebody actually feels sorry for Leaf fans?! You've got to be kidding. If they would wake up and quit going to watch that bloody awful team then maybe the rest of us could get a break from watching their version of the Saturday Night Beer League! TO fans are catered to every week and that is so pa...

Re: The Remaining Schedule

I don’t want to face St Louis or Nashville (in playoffs) until after someone else has softened them up. Even then, no more than one of these teams please (to hockey gods). St. Louis doesn't particularly intimidate me, they are too young and I suspect Hitchcock isn't able to make the necessary adjus...

Re: The Remaining Schedule

Getting the first western seed is more important than last year. In the playoffs, you want to avoid teams that are big, play tough, and are good enough to take you deep into a series..... if you want to maximize chances of getting to the SCF healthy. The third (or even second) seed could face two o...

I've heard MAG needs another 14 games to keep RFA status, as he hasn't hit 80 games in his 3rd pro year, so I expect to see him down the stretch for sure.

You like the Dude's rumour do you? How exciting that must be for you. Ummmmmmmm not really, just having a discussion about the Canucks... Twat. Ouch. Did I miss something? If it weren't for HW this place would be a toilet. Agreed that HW rules, but this place seemed okay before she came on board......

Re: Forward Lines after the deadline

AV is going to tell kesler to just go out and score some fucking goals. I keep thinking back to Kesler on Thornton last year and the play that blew out his groin. Yes, Kesler can be a physical presence, but he has so much to contribute than just giving a rough ride to much larger opponents. I know ...

Re: Trade Deadline Discussion

You can't put too much weight on how Buffalo's AHL players do - they're perennially good. Kassian's had difficulties adjusting to the NHL game, but he does well on a 3rd or 4th line. He'll grow into a 2nd liner, but he's limited right now. A big reason he's had any ice time in the NHL is because of...
Check the Memorial Cup stats. I see a lot of Hall, Nemisz, Loktionov, Ellis, Cundari, Cam Fowler and Eric Wellwood amongst the top scorers from Windsor, but no Kassian. Seems he was more a passenger than a driver of that bus.
I did as you said, and checked the Memorial Cup sta...

Re: Canucks / Sabres trade:

It's time for our coach to go - he's lost his winning edge, IMO, and is destroying the development of our young talent. I wonder though, in your book does Regier get a pass? I thought he should have been canned over the Drury-Briere debacles, with his asinine refusal to negotiate during the season....

Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian

He can't skate to save himself and his AHL output is nothing to drool over - in fact not appreciably better than Beach's 1st year in the A. Haven't heard that his skating is an issue, but I've only seen the highlights. But FYI: Kyle Beach had 16 g 20a 36 p in 71 gp in the AHL last year. Kassian has...
