Re: Henrik Sedin - best passer.... ever?

And if Lindros's head was not as fragile as Sid's, he would be part of this discussion too, so Sid's head is happening, and is totally relevant. Exactly. Longevity/durability are skills that, in my own opinion, set somebody apart as an all-around great hockey player. Gretzky had it, Hank has it, wh...

Re: Henrik Sedin - best passer.... ever?

I think jersey retirement criteria have to be contextual. In the context of this franchise's pathetic history, Smyl, Linden and Naslund were clearly standout players who carried the team at different times to near-greatness. If you're comparing our franchise to the Canadiens and their criteria, well...

Re: Only 2-3 playoff spots open in the West

Call me crazy. Never again, man, never again. I think everybody (myself included) saw LA as a team that did nothing but improve with their off-season moves. But unlike Philly, they clearly didn't get the chemistry right. San Jose should go on their usual late-season tear and take the division, but ...

Re: Henrik Sedin - best passer.... ever?

I actually really enjoyed last year's all-star skills competition, because it incorporated sick passing into the relay part. I believe Henrik nailed each saucer pass, cross-ice, backhand and forehand on the first try. It was a truly ridiculous display. I think Forsberg has been considered the best p...

Re: Luongo/Hodgson/Raymond for Lecavlier/Hedman/Downie theor

RD - I agree with a lot of what you're saying. I don't say we need to trade Schneider for any return, and the more I think about it the more I see his high value as a dependable back-up, even if that's all he ever is. I haven't heard Gillis say lots of teams are desperate to trade for him, and if th...

Re: Luongo/Hodgson/Raymond for Lecavlier/Hedman/Downie theor

ESQ, enough with the Downie desires, he's a player that won't fit the make-up of this team, not too mention him being a bit of a Matt Cooke style player, the kind of players that AV hates. I don't know enough about Downie off the ice, nor have I seen enough of him to be able to see whether he fits ...

Re: Luongo/Hodgson/Raymond for Lecavlier/Hedman/Downie theor

Tampa's season in serious jeopardy with injuries to leading defencemen Hedman and Brewer: http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/lightning/content/already-depleted-defense-takes-big-hit So is this the time to package Schneider and Ballard? Hedman is a non-starter, Lecavalier won't waive his NMC, so who's lef...

Re: Farhan's $0.02 - Canucks' penchant for "breathers" will.

Case in point - Last year after the Canucks clinched the Presidents' Trophy (after defeating LA if I recall correctly), they lost back-to-back games against the last place Oilers and literally did not show up to play. Although most did not see it as too big a deal at the time ( myself included), I ...

Re: Discussion: Should the NHL adopt an "amnesty clause"

Either Gallagher is reading week-old ESPN articles for research or he is trawling this forum! His latest: http://www.theprovince.com/sports/Gallagher+should+adopt+amnesty+clause/5915776/story.html Looking at his list of possible targets for amnesty, I'm trying to think of any small-market teams that...

Hell they just banned one of their own fans ;walleye got booted just for remarking that CP is mocked everywhere. Nice freedom of speech D'Arcy. Re: Luongo/Hodgson/Raymond for Lecavlier/Hedman/Downie theor

You have an agenda regarding Gatling Gun Grabner... Um, wait, who has the agenda? And FWIW, I doubt anybody would ever lie about watching a NYI game. Its unfortunate for Grabner though, I think had he stuck with the Canucks organization he'd be a far better player for it. He wouldn't have gotten th...

Re: Officiating

Interesting article. I think the author would agree that the Ducks and Bruins are definitely the outliers in terms of violent PIMs but still winning the Cup. I looked at regular season PIMs, regular season fighting majors, post-season Pims and fighting majors, and every other champion has been in th...

Re: Discussion: Should the NHL adopt an "amnesty clause"

As I said though I would want controls. Sort of like abortion, it shouldn't be used for birth control, just that rare getting caught at a bad time sort of thing, or in the case of rape. So if a gm or team is getting raped they should be able to abort, once anyway. *picks jaw up off floor* ...I'm no...
