Re: Has AV's time come?

Goaltending is the least of this team's concerns right now. The goaltending may not be the biggest issue but it is far from the least of their concerns. The goaltender duo that many consider one of the best in the league are sitting at #22 and #29 in Save%. Neither of them has been nearly as good a...

Re: Has AV's time come?

Four game winless streak, fire the coach, panic trade ...... how much urine can your mattress's absorb? Indeed. It's smelling pretty sour around these parts lately. I can only think of two occasions during Gillis' tenure that have caused this much panic. The first was shortly after adding Sundin to...

Re: Six Game Retrospective

I was actually the one responsible for that Giggles revival post, which went completely unnoticed at the time (Year 01 AC*), to my intense displeasure. That said, I feel like creeper posthumously contributed to that sucker. I am but a vessel... * AC = After Creeper, the timeline by which future int...

Re: 2013 Canucks Short Preseason/Training Camp

tiny cap hits, two way deals and one year contracts. So I'm fine with the Barker signing. He is young enough to turn in around -- particularly if the issues were due to injury or something psychological that can be overcome with the right environment. I don't expect it, and I think from the depth t...

Indeed. That can be largely attributed to the play of Luongo in games 1, 2, and 5.

Re: Shea Weber Accepts Offer Sheet from Phi (14 Years, 100 M

On the way home from work I was listening to Prime Time Sports. Elliotte Friedman (who I like) was filling in for Bob McCown (who I usually have a hard time listening to). Friedman and Shannon had Weber's agent on the show. Pretty good interview with a few things coming to light. Here are the highli...

Re: Shea Weber Accepts Offer Sheet from Phi (14 Years, 100 M

A little humor (regarding offer sheets) on the twitter between KB3 and Kes today: From Bieksa: https://twitter.com/kbieksa3/status/225819357287182336 #Weber #offersheet @Ryan_Kesler Now that's an offer sheet Kes! Makes yours look like 2 three year olds bartering for the red lego... Kesler's response...

Here's something original for you guys - I have it on good authority that Shea Weber wears Sex Panther.

Re: Shea Weber Accepts Offer Sheet from Phi (14 Years, 100 M

Compensation is based on the salary over the full term of the deal divided by the number of years on the contract to a maximum of five - so if Weber's contract is worth $100m the compensation would be calculated based on a $20m+ figure. Thanks Dave. I just finished looking it up in the CBA - you're...

Re: Shea Weber Accepts Offer Sheet from Phi (14 Years, 100 M

I'm pretty sure that a cap hit of 7.8 is below the threshold for 4 1st rounders. I believe the compensation in this case would only be two firsts, a second and a third (and as you said, pretty low picks at that). My money is on Nashville matching. I may have been wrong above. I think that the compe...

Re: Shea Weber Accepts Offer Sheet from Phi (14 Years, 100 M

With each passing day, Gillis reminds more and more of Brian Burke. That's a little harsh. We'll have to see how this pans out but if Nashville matches, and I believe they will, then this wasn't a good move on Holmgren's part at all. Yeah he can say he took a shot but what he really did was allow N...

Re: Shea Weber Accepts Offer Sheet from Phi (14 Years, 100 M

They have to match, IMO. Even if Weber is unhappy and wants to go, Poile can probably find better value in a trade than 4 (presumably low) 1st rounders I'm pretty sure that a cap hit of 7.8 is below the threshold for 4 1st rounders. I believe the compensation in this case would only be two firsts, ...

Re: Luongo will Waive NTC If Asked To

In my opinion: 1. you are wrong and we can and will get a solid return; 2. Gillis is in relatively safe spot, being patient and firm, and in good terms with Luongo (compare that to Howson & Nash); 3. Luongo will improve a team, that's a given, hopefully we can still cheer him :) 1. Like I said, hop...
