Re: Canucks resign Mason Raymond

Split the diff between what he had and what was offered on the knock down while getting one year instead of two that arbitration could have meant. Gives Mason a year to show what he can do and try to fulfil the expected role he was pencilled in for two years ago. I have no problem with it, he backs...

Re: Wild agree to terms with Suter and Parise

Wild owner, Craig Leipold, went on record as saying that he thinks the salaries he has given to Suter and Parise are "too much". Says that the league needs to do something to fix this, "but that's for another day". He's right. These athletes make WAY too much money just to play a game. They work in...

Re: The mildly ridiculous trade proposals thread

There's just no teams that are looking for a productive second-liner that's signed to a market-value contract right now. Can't agree with ya there Schnitzel, Booth is dumber than a sack of hammers, it's common knowledge. You'd have to be as dumb as he is not to be aware of his shortcomings. I'd rat...

Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings

My take on Doan is that he stays in Phoenix and then lives to regret it. Doan has shown so much loyalty to that franchise, and I will never know why. The only thing I can think of is that the last time he was in a place to go somewhere else, Gretzky was the coach and that probably held some sway ove...

Re: Luongo will Waive NTC If Asked To

Lou = a First line centre or a second line + a pick IMO. journeymen players are ten a penny, in fact we have some on the Vcr team we'd like to get rid of Realistically you're not going to get a 1st liner for Luongo right now, due to the total contract value and term (cap hit isn't really the issue)...

Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings

Not really, when all you have to do is wait for the inevitable offers of $6M per minimum for 5-7 years from winning teams like DET, PHI or PIT that will inevitably be coming down the pipe. Edler is a competitor and will want to go to a Contender. My 2¢. Like how Suter and Parise chose a contender? ...

Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings

If Edler has any doubts about following the money, he only has to give his buddy Ehrhoff a call... Edler is a competitor and will want to go to a Contender. My 2¢. Fortunately for anyone who wants to consider moving him, Edler has nothing on the books in terms of a NTC or NMC. He goes where he's se...

Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings

Does Duncan Keith want to come home? Anecdote on that..... My friend at work has a son who goes to a hockey camp in Penticton every summer, and two summers ago, just after Chicago won the Cup, Keith came to the camp to sign some autographs and my friend's son asked him if he was a Canucks fan growi...

Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings

I'd also like to say that as far as backup goalies go for next year my UFA favorites (in order) are.... 1) Marty Turco 2) Alex Auld 3) Dwayne Roloson 4) Andrew Raycroft Turco has a winning resume. He's been considered in the top 10 in the league before (some would argue top 5 at times). He would be ...

Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings

Luongo for Kane. Kane for Weber. This Gm shiite is easy peasy man. Somebody is angling for GMMG's job..... :look: Reading other posts and such, I am starting to think that the only way Weber comes to Vancouver is if it involves a 3-way trade that moves some significant names. I think your suggestio...

Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings

I think that any offer that included Bieksa, Ballard, and Raymond (like mine did) hinges on Weber wanting to play in BC. I think even if Weber said he wants to play at home (van) other teams would still beat that offer. Chicago may roll and dice and say if we can get him here and he gets to learn w...
