Re: GDT: 2/28 - Canucks @ Yotes - 6pm SNet

Ginger had a horribly sloppy game and I hate sloppy men. :( It's ok kid. I'm back now. ..and look, I'm a vet already, sloppy dudes aren't vets after one freaking day. Donny, are you in the hospital or laid up with a pair of broken legs by chance? I only ask because you have 56 posts in that "...

Re: GDT: 2/28 - Canucks @ Yotes - 6pm SNet

No excuses for this one. The team seemed to have their legs for most of the night. The good... Kassian. He was all over the boards after the puck, twice he got it free and immediately setup a solid one-timer from the point. He went to the net with confidence, and I loved that when he saw Henrik get ...

Re: GDT: 2/28 - Canucks @ Yotes - 6pm SNet

Kassian impressing. Granted it's his first game and it seems that most players have great debuts, but he has set up 2 great point shot opportunities, battled hard on the wall to free the puck and keep the pressure on, gone to the net hard, thrown hits. Pretty much delivered what we hoped. Now just g...

Re: GDT: 2/28 - Canucks @ Yotes - 6pm SNet

Rough period for Tanev. Turnover at the blueline that lead to a Phoenix rush. Beat by Torres on an race for the icing call, then he trips Doan immediately after as the Coyotes go to the attack and heads to the box. But apparently this is his first trip to the penalty box in his NHL career. That's ac...

Re: Byron Bitz has been recalled

Bitz got sent down to the Wolves. Bummer :( Gillis spoke to that yesterday, said they wanted Bitz playing more so he would be ready to go should we need him down the road. He had a great start with the big club, but then it was obvious that he was going to be a 3rd liner at best and in his last gam...

Most of the talk from yesterdays shocker surrounded that of the Kassian trade, but I think the Pahlsson acquisition could put Vancouver right back in contention.
Right back in contention?

When did we leave contention?
When Aaron Rome became our #5 dman. :drink:

Re: GDT: 2/28 - Canucks @ Yotes - 6pm SNet

Tonight is "next time" for Bieksa and Hanzal, is it not?... Very good point. Although someone told me after last game that it was Klesla.....either way, Juice will tune him. How much must it suck to play for the Coyotes. You make a good defensive play, transition it into an odd-man rush that ends w...

Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian

2 of the 3 guys you mentioned lead the league in defensive zone draws. Part of why the coaches chooses to use them in that role is because they are excellent at getting the puck out of their zone and advancing it. You are way off on this point. We must watch different Canuck teams. Maybe I'm watchi...

Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian

Getting a top 6 player without giving up any tangible assets allowed MG the flexibiltiy to give up Hodgson. But it takes time and patience to make these types of high-impact deals. One thing we can rest easy about with this regime is they have some very smart people running the they really research...

Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian

The Canucks are easily hemmed in when being attacked by stronger teams because our forwards such as Raymond, Hansen, Hodgson, Lapierre, Malhotra, Hank, and Dank, are all easy for big forecheckers to tie up along the defensive boards because they eaither lack the strength to escape with the puck or ...

Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian

We lose Ehrhoff from the back end, but his playoff wasn't great last year. That said the blue line as a whole would have to be considered a bit worse over all despite being deeper. I still think that Keith Ballard, minus the Vigneault head games, could offset the loss of Ehrhoff's puck moving and r...

Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian

Lack of toughness is absolutely the wrong diagnosis for the Canucks and why they lost the playoffs. Teams that try to emulate last year's winner are generally doomed to fail. It isn't "how did the Bruins win," but how can the Bruins be beat (or related, why did the Canucks lose). Its hard to counte...

Re: GDT: 2/28 - Canucks @ Yotes - 6pm SNet

Pahlsson with 10 takeaways and 3 hits. Kassian gets 4 goals while playing on every line. Detractors all jump on the Zack Wagon claiming they always knew this was for the best. This will be a tough game for a very tired group of guys. Hopefully Pahlsson and Kassian can inject some energy into ...
