Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 18-19 Sponsored by SKYO

31 years old and demoted to the AHL. Alzner is not a recipe for a bounce back after a down year. Alzner is a stay home kind of player in the same vein as Gudbranson, though less old-school. His mobility is about the same too.....I'm sure he passes better, but that's not saying much. So in a nutshel...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 18-19 Sponsored by SKYO

Loui Eriksson shall be traded for Karl Alzner. Loui will waive to play under a better coach for him in former Bruins bench boss Claude Julien, the coach who got him to 30 goals. Alzner will take a load off for Edler and Tanev in terms of blocked shots, enabling them to be healthier longer as Travis...

What a dive
Time to revisit the wandering goalies again at the GM meetings and NHL competition committee.

I think if a goalie goes to play the puck behind his net and he doesn’t leave the crease before the opposing attacker hits the face-off circle then he’s fair game.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Kovalchuk not too happy with the healthy scratches courtesy of Willie D http://flip.it/rQ79ag That's the worst. But he (Desjardins) didn't play young guys. He plays 7 D. That's his new strategy. "What you can do? That's his decision and he's the head coach - 10 more games. Willie McTwitchystache do...

Re: GDT: Sens @ Canucks. 7 pm Mar 20 SNP

I’ve been no fan of Loui E. BUT..... I have to admit that this is the first time we’ve seen him play an entire game with a couple linemates who actually can play top-6 spots.....although Pearson has not established that consistently yet, amirite Doc? ;) IF Loui re-finds his game with Bo, there could...

Re: 2019 UFA

Yeah I think that's pretty much the point that UW made there about the "x-factor" free agents. The difference between a draft pick and a free agent is that the free agent steps in and can play at the NHL level now. The Canucks are at the point in the rebuild where meaningful games in March are crit...

Re: 2019 UFA

If Elmer lays out 7.5 million per to Myers that would be a horrendous mistake. I even think 6 is too much for a second pairing guy. But this is a GM paying Eriksson and Sutter 10.4 million when they are basically 4th liners Unless we somehow win the UFA lottery and sign Karlsson, Myers would be our...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

I'd say Marner settles just under Matthews, but more than Tavares - @ $11.15M - $11.5M ish AAV Rantanen better get 12-13 million then. He probably would if he was negotiating with Dubas. But in Colorado he doesn't have any massive salaries to point to as precedence. MacKinnon is only making $6.3M, ...

Re: 2019 UFA

Anyways yes I'd throw all the cash at EK July 1st first and foremost. [/b] FFS Skyo.. Get off the sniffing glue already. We are NOT getting EK. He is not coming here. We don't want him at the price tag he will command. It will be an overpayment (to say the least) to get him here. He is an albatross...

Re: 2019 UFA

When attempting to attract a free agent with a potential contract, location very much comes into play. What the city is like. Possibly family reasons. What the potential for success in that city projects to be. What the paycheck whittles down to. Hence this semi decent comparable shows; https://oil...

Re: Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019

It would be nice to see Petterson top 70 points. Also for Horvat and Boeser to hit 60 points each would be a nice accomplishment. Though some posters feel that Sutter is just about as good as Horvat. The next highest scoring skater is Roussel with 31 points. Edler leads the D men with 25 points. Th...

Re: 2019 UFA

I don’t go a penny over 6 for Myers. Gardiner- yuck Eberle- yuck Kick the tires on Stralman. Make an offer to Karlsson. Make a serious pitch to Ferkland Simmons- yuck Jeff Skinner ?? You're all talk. You'd be fine with Myers at $7M. Ferland and Skinner would require the moving of Baertschi......

Re: 2019 UFA

I would go $7.5M on Myers. A bit more if the term is 4 years or less. The only RS guy we have in the system that is worth crossing our fingers on is Woo, and realistically he is probably at least 3 years away from being ready for a regular top-4 spot. A full year in Utica next season, call-up duty ...
