Re: Free agent FRENZY thread. July 1, 2019

I agree, Tanev has value. What exactly who knows but there are teams, and we always see this by mid July, that miss out in FA that feel left out and make moves. In a week or so the cap picture will be clearer to a lot of teams and Tanev will have value. I love the guy, really. But we should be getti...

Re: Free agent FRENZY thread. July 1, 2019

The trade protection means we don’t have to protect them in the expansion draft. This may or may not be a problem but at least Benning keeps the flexibility there.

Dallas adds Zuc, Pavelski, and Sekera. They very well may start this season above average at forward, defense, and in goal. Yet they have a way of disappointing....

They also add Perry

https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/1 ... fantenberg

Fantenberg acquired by Calgary at the TDD. Now a Canuck. Another Swede, lefty, one year deal, no terms yet.

Pouliot gone, Hutton gone, Schenn gone, cap crunch. Fantenberg it is.

Re: Canucks Contracts

So Luongo wanted to go on LTIR. Panthers said they would prefer he just retire as it would be cheaper for them in the long run and they wouldn’t have to work around the LTIR every year. So he said ok. If he went on LTIR they’d be on the hook for his full salary less our retention and only get relief...

Re: Canucks Contracts

Well at least we know now. We can also now retain in three salaries as we no longer retain on his.

I wonder if the Canucks will try to make the case, given how he worded his letter, that he is medically unable to play. The league freaking owes us.

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

Since Luongo was slated to make significantly less than his $5.33 million AAV, the Canucks will be hit with a $3.03 million penalty for the next three seasons, while the Panthers are on the hook for $1.09 million per season for three seasons. From the Florida newspaper. Good for him to let the Panth...

Re: Canucks 2019-2020 line-up

Question? If Ericksson gets his bonus July 1st and then retires, do we still have a cap hit on him this season? If yes, how much? No, if he retires his whole cap hit is gone. It's only if a player signs his deal over age 35 that you keep the cap hit. Yes I know. What I’m asking is if he retires aft...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

All the talk of the rebuild being over, it isn’t. Unless your measurement is making the playoffs. We are entering a different phase of the rebuild, keeping in mind it isn’t linear. It’s time for the young kids to take over the team, own the core. Making the playoffs, learning how to win consistently...

Winnipeg Reddit; Currently discussing the Canucks asparations of acquiring Tyler Myers. It's just for fun... . https://www.reddit.com/r/winnipegjets/comments/c4yjm3/is_tyler_myers_a_top_4_defenseman/ So the consensus is, there is no consensus. Seems like 6M would be about right but in FA you know i...

Re: Canucks News n Notes 2019-2020

We also need to see what Luongo does. If he retires we need to have a 2.8 cushion. If he medically retires we pick up $800,000 in potential cap relief if we hit the cap ceiling.

Miller (6'1", 218lb) put up nearly identical numbers to Bo Horvat (6', 215) until buried in Tampa depth last year. He and Bo are similar size and on similar contracts (Miller is $250K/yr cheaper than Bo with the same # yrs left on his deal). Miller returns to top 6 position he held with the Rags. M...

Two years from (2021-2022) now we could have a starting 6 of Myers, Barrie and Woo. Hughes,Juolevi and Trymankin. Hughes and Juolevi will need new deals then.
