Re: Cap Floor & Mr Ballard

Ballard deserves another chance. Ballard played 65 games for us last season and was +8. Rome played 56 games and was +5. Bouncing Ballard through the line didn't help his consistency. In spite of this, he maintains a classy outlook with the media, and plays with passion. He needs to be paired with a...

Re: What the??? What happened?

The run to the finals was entertaining, and should be appreciated, but it's hard to look past the final games.

Re: Bringing back the Roberto Luongo of 2006/07 (and that st

In 2006/7 we had a good defensive defenceman (W. Mitchell) helping Bieksa and Luongo look good . Until game 1 of the SCF we had Hamhuis for this role. Weber is one of those rare stud D that can do shutdown and quarterback the PP. These guys tend to cost so much in a trade, it's questionable that we ...

Forgot about Higgins' previous (2010) contract being ineligible for comparison. It could have provided an upper limit reference.

Higgins' battle level went up in the finals. :)

Re: Hansen goes to Arbitration

Jannick Hansen: 25, 195, 6-1, 9-20-29-13 (G_A_P_+) in 82 GP in 2011. Hansen hilite video Fast & physical enough to catch guys on the sidewall & deliver hard hits. Good defensively. Good on the PK. The only Canuck forwards I would rate ahead of him on the PK are Burrows, Kesler, & Malhotra (when heal...

Burrows is about as untouchable as a dirty diaper. He has a use and once he's full of urine or fecies you throw him out.
Re-thinking that colour commentating career?

Re: Do you see some kind of a trend, is this the same MG

The refs dictate what style of play is successful. The closer you get to the cup & the end of each series, the less they use their whistles. Trading some regular season points for toughness may be a good investment towards taking the cup. More skill might do it too, but toughness offers other benefi...

Re: Vcr Draft Review

Outside of a few top prospects, the career results through the first three or four draft rounds tends to be spotty. This explains why some teams draft trade down their picks in return for more draft quantity. The shotgun strategy? Will wait a while before following them individually. Just glad we go...

Re: Hodgson Outlook

The kid needs icetime and loads of it. Ideally, I would like to see him get lots of ice time - say 15min a game or more, with the Canucks. That isn't going to happen on the 4th line alone. Difficult to get with a coach as conservative as AV. Cody has the calm disposition that allows you to grow whi...

Re: CC Official KB3 Apperciation Thread

As Hamhius goes, Bieksa goes. Here's to Hammer returning to full form in October soes the two of them can shut down every top line in the league. In the last 5 yrs we've seen the importance of the defensive defenseman - to their partner and the goalie. Without Hamhuis, Bieksa can't be as offensive ...

Re: Hodgson Outlook

Needs improvement on the boards & in defensive positioning @ both ends. Guys have worked their way around him to the net, when he could have taken the body. Don't remember him getting danced badly.

Re: Hodgson Outlook

He would progress faster on the 1st & 2nd lines, but that probably isn't best for the team at this point. There are compromises to be made. He was a + while playing mainly the on 4th line last season. In limited play off time I though he acquited himself reasonably well - compared to our limited alt...

Re: Hodgson Outlook

Pros & Cons: The guy has decent hands & great hockey smarts at the age of 21 - you can't teach that. He's only 6' & 185lbs, but was +1 in the 8 reg season games he played. His first few strides aren't going to create break aways, but he hustles down the ice as fast as most guys who will never be mor...
