Re: Cap Floor & Mr Ballard

Ya funny how AV's 'earned icetime' philosophy only applies to certain players. When pointed questions show up, MG and AV have their media schtick down pat. MG makes a face like he is at the dentist, then explains how it's all part of the master plan. AV goes into his ah shucks, chuckle, that...

Re: Plot behind the Carter & Richards deals thickens

I would think that every GM knows Luongo is untouchable - he has a very-specifically structured contract with tradeable windows in years 5 and 7, and its clear that he is the cornerstone of this Canuck "window" (I'm a big Luongo booster, fyi). If he were on the market, there's no question every GM ...

Re: Plot behind the Carter & Richards deals thickens

Carter particularly at that cap hit is attractive, but they both don't fit MG's MO (or the MGMO) of the kind of people he wants in this organization. While the cap likely won't continue going up by leaps and bounds, it is going to continue to go up, and by the time Carter hits what should be his pr...

In the long term, I agree, but I don't think of Phili as a contender anymore.

Re: Plot behind the Carter & Richards deals thickens

Just being healthy is an improvement, plus sturm may surprise us and I don't think gillis is done. May take to february..but he aint done. Imho. Most teams start healthy, but contenders need enough depth to carry them through the play offs. I was hoping Gillis would have an opportunity to take adva...

Re: Plot behind the Carter & Richards deals thickens

The deals are a month old, the reason for them isn't (storey from phili paper dated today). At first I thought of this as a storey about rich, spoiled hockey players. Then I thought about how our club has not improved since the play offs, and missed opportunities. Doesn't an arm chair GM's job inclu...

Plot behind the Carter & Richards deals thickens

Apparently Carter & Richards suffered from the same ailment as Shane Obrien. Both players' output dropped a bit in the last couple years, but they have plenty of talent. Phili's return on these trades never quite made sense to me, until now. Carter & Richards were cornerstones on a contending team....

just say "no" to Kovolchuk
Agreed. We don't need an inflated contract, or another inflated ego.

Re: The Great Depression: Anyone else still feeling down?

....feeling down....
No, summer is a fine remedy for some things.

Canucks fans were understandably cranky after the finals. A few fools participated in the riot.

It's time to look forward and learn from the past. There are scores to settle.

Dealt with a scaled down verison of your problem last week - going from 2' to 6" height. The cup holder was an important part of the process. No children found.

PS - Ballard deserves another chance. :look:

Nothing to do with hockey..but I have a couple of acres at the cottage and with the late drive for the Cup I was late getting out here and the grass is literally up to my waste and every time it drys out and I get psyched to get into it the bloody rain starts :scowl: My place has a little garden sh...

Re: Norway? No way!

The murderer was dressed as a policeman and repeatedly called out that the police had arrived, that everything was under control and that people could come out from hiding, then shot those who did..... The results are horrific. The amount of thought & planning that a fanatic put into this is very d...

Re: Winnipeg cutting costs already

The airplane on maple leaf logo will puzzle some americans. They will be trying to figure out which american fighter jet it is, without knowing the avro arrow history. That's not the Arrow though it's the CF-18 Hornet. I should have checked. Now I'm not so much puzzled, as disappointed. The winnipe...

Re: Norway? No way!

In responce to the Oklahoma City bombing, amendments to Canada's Explosives Act passed in 2008 require a vendor of ammonium nitrate to record the purchases, who bought the fertilizer, and to alert police if they think there is something suspicious about a purchase. I expect this is typical of democr...
