Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

Puck drop is two months from now. Plenty of movement throughout the league will take place before then.

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

I look forward to some serious summer news coming outta the Rog that is actually hockey related.

It'll boost morale for training camp, and put this nonsense behind us.

Tick tock Jim, you're on the clock.

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

So what’s the major trade here BOS? He has no assets to move other than Horvat, Petterson, Hughes Boeser or Demko or next years 1st. That’s it. Stay the course and rebuild. Tanev, Edler, Juolevi, and Gaudette are most certainly desirable assets that could be included in a package. Having a gaping w...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

Benning is/was on board. It will be interesting to see how Benning handles things. Jim could win over the fans, ownership and the players by swinging for the fences and improving the team for both the short and long term. In four plus years on the job, Jim has yet to make a major trade. Every GM ma...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN

I am really curious to see who gets brought in. Could it be someone with clout? A new name? Or simply a re-shifting of the powers?

I mean really, aside from back-up Gov for Fran at the odd league meeting, what were his duties? (Powers?)

Interesting times await.

Re: What to do with Hughes

I think with his natural abilities, both mentally and physical skills, he’d have no problem playing this year. Pretty hard to hit what you can’t catch. He’s an upper echelon elite skater, and his hands and brain can work as fast as his feet. Having said that, barring a career threatening injury, I s...

Re: When will the Canucks Next make the playoffs

Too early to vote. So much can happen between now and puck drop.

Still waiting for Benning to swing the big trade.

Re: Canucks Young Guns

In: Petersson, Gaudette, Goldobin, Hughes One of these things is not like the others: elite, elite, crap, elite. Just because Botchford sings Goldobin’s praises at every opportunity doesn’t mean he is no longer a bubble player at best. The guy is carried by Virtanen in garbage games at the end of l...

Out: Sedin, Sedin, Vanek, Jokinen, Dowd

In: Petersson, Gaudette, Goldobin, Hughes

Tire fire of offence? Time will tell.

Infusion of speed? Absolutely no doubt

Re: What to do with Hughes

A few other thoughts. Signing Hughes would alleviate some pressure off Juolevi's first season. Easily allowing him to start with the Comets and avoid the Van media. Unless you catch them with their head down, hitting a kid with the level of skill and mobility that this kid has is waaay harder than i...

Re: What to do with Hughes

The talk they have may be about Utica should he sign and they feel he needs to play there for a spell. Is he comfortable with that? Does he think it will help or hurt vs returning to the NCAA. It’s exactly because Benning can’t and won’t guarantee an NHL spot that we are in a holding pattern. I sus...
