Re: Canucks Young Guns

If the D was not decimated by injuries then would Brisebois/Sautner be given a chance?
The point is that they were developed in the minors and they can step in for injuries or trades or for whatever reason...

The concern would be if the kids weren't able to play when called up...

Re: 2019 UFA

Of all of those picks you listed, which of them do you see becoming a quality NEW addition to the Canucks next season other than ONE of Hughes or Juolevi. I'm seeing none, especially on defense. I was thinking more of quality additions to the organization, but in Juolevi and Hughes and MacEwen ther...

Re: Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019

It would be nice to see Petterson top 70 points. Also for Horvat and Boeser to hit 60 points each would be a nice accomplishment. Though some posters feel that Sutter is just about as good as Horvat. The next highest scoring skater is Roussel with 31 points. Edler leads the D men with 25 points. T ...

Re: 2019 UFA

Eberle is too slow. Team needs to get quicker I've been holding on to this. https://thehockeywriters.com/edmonton-oilers-jordan-eberle-problem/ Eberle has played a total of 34 games in the AHL where things like the defensive side of the game is learned, something the Oilers had a hard time understa...

Re: 2019 UFA

I am actually 'okay' with the forwards we would be bringing back next year. Yes, there are some I would like to see gone, Sutter, Spooner, Erikson but I think their replacements would come back in trades. What I would like is to see Benning, or whoever our GM is, spend most of the cap space on brin...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

With a shooting % 5.3. Won't occur again probably in his career.

I don't follow the Leaves and have only seen a couple of games on TV and live this year, but unless he stops playing on the perimeter, he will always have a low shooting percentage...

Re: 2019 UFA

Hamhuis and Mitchell were in Vancouver for 4 years. Wouldn't we be happy if the Eriksson contract was only for 4 years? Contracts handed out to the marquee players that UFA frenzy that saw Eriksson sign in Vancouver with their stats this season; Kyle Okposo, RW, SIGNS SEVEN-YEAR DEAL WORTH $42 MILL...

Re: 2019 UFA

So should they sit the next year too? There is value in the UFA and this team has signed decent UFA in the past. Thomas Vanek Mats Sundin Dan Hamhuis Willie Mitchell Murray Baron Tanner Glass Raffi Torres Manny Malhotra Anson Carter And then they have a massive blob of shit for signings most of the...

Re: 2019 UFA

I wouldn't chase any UFA's... Because they are always an overpayment and not sure why some think that this time they will be good value?... I'd rather go the weaponizing our cap space route and look to making a trade with teams up against the cap, ie Tampa or teams who do buy UFA's needing to shed ...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

A lovely story. When you add up the contracts of Eriksson, Sutter, Gudbranson, Beagle, Spooner, Pearson of dead cap space that could probably be replaced with 8-10 million worth of players . Leaving Elmer with 15 million to spend on a good player or two. Not to mention the couple extra picks he cou...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

He made no sense at that price point on this team where it’s at in its rebuild. They need to improve the defence and the overall talent level and speed. He does none of that Why are you worried about the contract at this point in the teams evolution? Rather than looking at the glass half empty, I s...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Guds was a deterrent. He could well have been more of one but either he was reluctant to be or had a collar. When the trade came down, my first impression was a sinking feeling and an Ah Fuck, Why? For what?......... Still is. His mobility was in question and he seemed confused on his defensive pos...

Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"

Even with social media nowadays and a new generation of readers, listeners, watchers - I still expect some sort of Journalistic Integrity from the media, Botchford show zero, zilch, none - I'm shocked people actually pay to read his drivel on The Athletic. I've read a few articles on it in the past...
