Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"

Monday morning trolls on 1040 this morning. Now "THAT" was bad! About 7:00-7:15 am. Talk about an agenda of hate. Trying to manipulate public thinking. Their 89% pole means nothing. That pole is-Does Benning need to be fired or have someone brought in to watch over him. Dude is gonna go nuts if he ...

Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"

I really enjoyed Botch, and I'm going to miss him. It's quite sad to see him 'check out' so soon. Illnesses of the heart can be so fatal. Now that I'm in my 50's, ive lost a few friends because of heart issues. I was fortunate to have had an angiogram and a stent put in just 6 mos ago myself. Botch...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

Not sure I want to see the Canucks copycatting the flavour of the day. Teams are built through the draft and having high end players that make big money and show up in the playoffs has been a recipe for success over the years. You also need copious amounts of depths and good kids on entry level con...

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

I’m looking forward to watching the likes of Tampa and Nashville and Vegas and especially the Leaves work thru their cap issues and large ticket, non performing players.... Read that none of the remaining teams still in the playoffs have a $10 million contract, the Leaves might have 3.... This is gr...

Re: 2018-2019 Playoffs - Round 1

Tampa has done a better job of hanging onto picks and have more depth, and evenness throughout their line up. But they've shown that when one of their core goes down or is playing injured they lack depth enough. Their problem was lack of adversity throughout the regular season. When the going got t...

Re: 2018-2019 Playoffs - Round 1

Kudo's to the Blue Jackets.... The rumor was that ownership hired Torts in Vancouver against Gillis wishes, does what Torts has done since he left Vancouver mean that ownership knows hockey better than Gillis? :) Playoff hockey is as much about luck as it is skill.... Sucks that the Canucks had so m...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

I didn’t miss any point. Canucks are among the slowest teams in the league. Boucher (or Leivo) is 26 and he can’t skate. I know he has a great shot but he’s pretty much a one trick pony at the NHL level. He’s a great AHL player however. There we go. Looks better now. Definitely more complete. I'm n...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Boucher has had a few shots at the NHL. He simply does not have it. He is "average" at so many things, and his one strength is his shot. One of his biggest weaknesses is that his shot is slow to get off, and he sucks at making time and space. So, what we see is a great shot once in a while, and a w...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

It’s not unusual for skilled players to struggle in the AHL due to a lack of likeminded skilled players but excel in the NHL for that reason. Analytics at the AHL level is waste of time when career minor leaguers like Boucher are superstars in that league but useless at the nhl level. I also don’t ...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Anderson would be a best case scenario for MacEwan. Reid Boucher is a horrible skater. He makes Goldobin and Granlund look engaged. Guy would be in Travis’s doghouse full time here with his defensive play. He’s 26, he is what he is. You missed the point ... Both players have warts in their games, b...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Through January 1, Goldy was on 45-point pace. Good enough for a second line winger, not good enough for a 1st line winger. Josh Leivo with the canucks was at a 30 point pace. So much angst over Goldy when you have a similar player with a better shot in Reid Boucher who saw just 1 game last season....

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

They have no choice but to be tough on him. He is a repeat offender in the Matt Cook sort of way. He wasn't just retaliating for the Debrusk hit but on Debrusk himself for several hits he laid out on Kadri. One of which was a knee and should have been called. But when you have the reputation Kadri ...

Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"

Remember Steve Armitage at the CBC? Everytime I saw him around the downtown studios or reporting in the streets, he looked like WC Fields... all red faced with a huge, red bulbous nose. The guy looked drunk asf on the job. Armitage was a wrinser for sure. Helmet Head fathered a child with Constable...

Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"

it occurred to me the other day, we Canucks fans have been spoiled for so long with excellent play-by-play guys - Robson, Hughson, Shorthouse. I would argue we've had the best consistent play-by-play coverage in the league for, what, 40 years? We've had very good colour commentators - Meeker, Larsc...
