Re: Jannik Hansen breaks hand

This really bums me out. I know everyone was clamouring for Hodgson, Grabner and Shirokov to take his spot, but I really like Hansen...and he was playing very well in the pre-season. Fast and smart. The fight maybe wasn't the smartest, though.

Re: GDT: Preseason game 1, 'nucks vs Islanders

Man, it sure was nice to see a game again...even if just a warm-up game in the boonies. O'Brien better start picking it up because he looks rather inadequate imo and this has got to be his big year if he's going to make the step forward that is expected of him. Agreed with your thankfulness at the s...

Re: Who's next?

o we play Detroit if San Jose and Detroit both win; o Calgary or Chicago if San Jose loses and Detroit wins (or San Jose wins and Detroit loses); or o Anaheim if both San Jose and Detroit lose. Thank you (and to previous helps too)! This is exactly what I was looking for. And now I understand why G...

Re: Who's next?

Does anyone know exactly how the playoff bracket works? Like, if Detroit sweeps Columbus, are they guaranteed to be the Canucks 2nd-round opponent? Or does it depend on who wins the other two series as well? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I can't find the answer elsewhere, and this seems to b...

Re: Waiver List Today

I've always liked Morrison. After he had success with the WCE, everyone seemed to expect him to produce like a top-line center year after year. His contract reflected those high expectations, too...but I think he would have been much better suited to playing a role like Kesler's (and with a similar ...

The Sedins are first-liners with great contract value -- any team would love to have two consistent 80-point guys with amazing chemistry on their top line. They still need a top-notch linemate to really explode...as most of us already lamented last summer. Naslund wasn't it -- their winger's gotta b...

It looks like Miller was right beside Sopel on the Kings' depth chart last year -- similar ice time (around 20 minutes per game) and salary ($2.28M for Miller, $2.4M for Sopel). Miller has a decent reputation as a defensive defenseman, but he's 35 and not particularly speedy. A curious signing, unle...

Reid=Richard Park?

He's got great speed and can create good chances off the rush but he seems to lack overall vision. The most frustrating thing is that he generates great chances bursting across the blueline only to ruin them by overhandling the puck or taking a poor angle shot on net. How many times did we see Rich...

Good point. Given the Canucks' recent performance, OTLs will likely play a role in whether they get in or not. Based on their current record, a 15-11-1 (or 12-8-7) down the stretch looks reasonable, but based on their last 10 games, it makes me nervous. Everyone seemed excited about the win over San...

I guess I've been feeling less optimistic about their playoff chances lately. That was a great run after Christmas, but only three regulation wins in the eight games since beating the Senators on Jan. 18 haven't inspired confidence. Even though they've been squeaking out points, it hasn't often look...

Whenever I catch myself thinking that Luongo looks just average out there, and start to feel disproportionately disappointed, I've realized that my (our) expectations of his impact were impossibly high. Seriously, after getting caught up in the pre-season hype, I think I was half expecting to witnes...

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/article.jsp?content=20061108_142334_4008 Bourdon is heading back to Moncton, and Coloumbe is comming up to the big team. There was lots of pre-season board buzz on Coulombe, but I've heard in a few places recently that he's had a tough time in Winnipeg. Has it already...
