Re: What changes should we make for next season?
too bad the NHL didn't void Luongo's contract last summer...damnit, was hoping he would make me eat my words but instead, he validates it...is he even a top 10 goaltender in the league anymore? this team needs a legit heavyweight, from all accounts, Godard is n the outs in Pittsburgh, will come here...

Re: Roberto Contract Could be Rejected?
@Island Nucklehead - Hey, no argument that Ward is a very good goalie and was a significant part of the winning cup team, but going into the playoffs, hardly thought of as a top NHL goalie (hmmm, much like Schneider, but Schneider has won goalie of the year in AHL). "Ward is the first rookie goalie...

Re: Roberto Contract Could be Rejected?
^^^^^^^ I'm not going to quote that nonsense, but you sir are out to lunch when it comes to NHL goaltending. We have a top 5 goalie at a reasonable cap hit of 5.3 million. There are ten goalies making that amount, so he is not overpaid in any way. It is not worth debating this subject with you . :r...

Re: Roberto Contract Could be Rejected?
a goalie is always a core piece of a team The Chicago Blackhawks might have something to say about that.... keep reaching. i never had a simpler discussion go my way...read your posts, you are contradicting yourself. so how many of the past few champions had top 5 goalie when they won the cup...

Re: Roberto Contract Could be Rejected?
And by the way, you are connecting "mediocrity" with Luongo, your logic, I don't know how you got that from what you "quoted". Your bashing Luongo, saying he's a main reason we weren't successful last year (by not winning the cup, I guess  ). I'm not connecting mediocrity with Luongo at all. ...

Re: Roberto Contract Could be Rejected?
How is he suppose to prove he can win if he isn't given the opportunity to play, he's proven in the AHL, the next step is NHL but with Luongo playing 90% (a guess) of the games, how is he to prove he can play? Schneider has had several chances when Luongo has been hurt to 'step up' and prove his wo...

Re: Roberto Contract Could be Rejected?
Hey, if you are one that thinks success is making it to he second round, well, you are one of those people that cheer for mediocrity. The Canucks have had 0 successful seasons, zero. Then by that logic, 26 teams have been unsuccessful, and as many as 29 teams are mediocre... That's a bit harsh, don...

Re: Roberto Contract Could be Rejected?
I really don't mind if they void Luongo's contract, frees up some cash to sign a backup for Schneider and we can keep all current players, and have flexibility for a trade to upgrade. Yes because Schneider has proven he can win in this league. Unbelieveable. Luongo has been very average the l...

Re: Roberto Contract Could be Rejected?
geez, he's suppose to be one of the best goalies in the world, shouldn't he be able to play with a defence that is injury ridden?! he played like crap in the playoffs. period. you can write all the excuses in the world for the canucks not making it to the next round, but he was outplayed by a no-nam...

Re: Uber Rumor!!
Wasn't there word that Lucic was considered for the Olympic Team...what he brings to a team is more than the goals, it's his hitting and fighting (which he doesn't do enough of).
I could do the trade without Hansen being a part of it.

Re: McGratton signs with the Flames
To have a guy like Boogaard, Hordichuk, Parros, Godard, Shelley, etc allows the players to play with that extra bit of toughness that they don't normally play with. That one guy is a deterrent for some of the players out there to think twice about running one of the better players on the team...I wr...

Re: McGratton signs with the Flames
Points per game, Hordichuk and McGrattan aren't that far off with McGrattan getting less ice time on average maybe the reason for the difference. Why wouldn't Calgary sign McGrattan, he makes pretty much the league minimum. Naslund even said after Langdon joined the team 2002 that it makes a differe...
