Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Lundqvist contract is insane. Subban contract looking to be similar.

Re: OOTS: 2013-14
Well so far it's been complete domination by the Bruins in every way except the scoreboard but they still have a 1-0 lead after the first. There was a Sedin-like shift where the Bruins spent over 2 minutes with control of the puck in the leaves zone.

Re: OOTS: 2013-14
Hall is a strange player. He does have some unbelievable skills. Top notch. But he is David Booth dumb. Maybe even more dumb. Moulson apparently not impressed with the benching last night. I can see that. He's a new guy to the team it is surprising to bench him. Hodgson and Ennis I could see especia...

Re: OOTS: 2013-14
Oilers losing 2-0 to the Flyers this afternoon. About halfway through the game. On the second goal Hall blows the zone looking for a breakaway pass or something despite the Oilers not having the puck. Hartnell then receives the pass in pretty much the spot Hall should have been and fires it by Dubny...

Just to pile on some more....the savior Cody Hodgson was benched the final 26:11 of the game last night. Second time in two weeks he was benched for about half the game.
Asked after the game about it Rolston said "we gotta work".

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka
Well sure. Smid ain't anything to get excited about but he can be a serviceable #4 guy. The Oilers need more than serviceable but getting rid of serviceable just for the sake of freeing up cap space to spend another $3 mil on your 4th goaltending solution of the year is simply dumb.

Eberle would be in Torts doghouse within a week for his poor work along the boards and in the defensive zone. Just not high on eberle. Think he's a complimentary second liner on a good team making first line money.

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka
Bottom line is the Flames did get better.
The Oilers, well, are still the Oilers.
First the fact they are a cap team is hilarious. Second, freeing up cap space to sign a goaltender who adds another clown to the circus is even more hilarious.

Re: GDT: Nov 7: Canucks @ Sharks - 7:30pm PT - SPac
Well before making the call on whether Torts will still go with three lines it would be nice to actually give him a fourth one to work with. I don't think it's a stretch at all to see a fourth line get another 2 or 3 minutes in a game not filled with penalties. The only players on the Rangers last y...

Yes. AV is a superb coach. But coaches have a shelf life. The players got too comfortable under AV and it showed. It was time to move on.Topper wrote:The falloff from that highlights how complacent the group had become.

Re: OOTS: 2013-14
No doubt Larry. I was really just putting down on this board what I was saying on another in response to a post which was basically "13 points vs 4!". When you strip away the points from the situation Kassian hasn't played (PP), the numbers aren't far off from each other. In fact I think ES points p...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Correct his vets just aren't worth much. Which is why he will need the deadline to inflate value. Right now GMs are circling him like sharks hoping they can convince him to throw in some picks/prospects to take Player X off his hands. I don't think he will panic. Seems clear that the coaching change...

Re: GDT: Nov 7: Canucks @ Sharks - 7:30pm PT - SPac
A coaching change won't change anything. Yeah right. We all know that the last season and half under AV would have had the team simply give up right when the fluke goal went in. Instead, they went out and got that goal right back. Much more dynamic team under Torts so far than they were under AV the...
