Re: Meanwhile, on the other side of the pond 2019/20

Bad luck, Per.
Man... it’s hard enough being a Canucks fan. You seem to have Canuck-luck times two.

Rulings like the above make me nervous about what the NHL may do with the Canucks’ first-rounder.

Re: Muzac For Munsters

Who knew Corn was into punk? Nice. Only caught a couple shows at the Commodore and only in recent years. I would have loved to have seen that Clash show in '79, but I'm not sure I could've sneaked in at 18 let alone 11!

Did you ever see No Means No, Corn? Wright brothers... awesome players.

Re: Muzac For Munsters

I always enjoyed Godley and Creme for their humour. As an aside. I do a lot of road trips for my son's racing. We load up the phone with music and he controls it while I drive. The Clash's "I'm So Bored With the USA" is a border crossing staple. Beatles, Rolling Stones, Reverend Horton Heat, Hank I...

Re: Another one bites the dust

Peart last week, Terry Jones this week. I'm losing the people that entertained me as kid.

Jones wrote the "Funniest joke in the world sketch"... some of the best comedy writing ever.

RIP Terry you brilliant bastard.

Re: TV Shows: What are you watching?

I just got around to watching Ken Burns' Civil War documentary (it's only been out 30 years  ). It's very good. It's shocking what transpired down there only 160 years ago. I was hoping it covered how they went about repairing the nation, but it doesn't really get into that. I would think that...

Good question. It shouldn't be much, he's an entry-level player.

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

I don’t know what he said, or if it’s true. The point is, we can’t start using social media opinion as some sort of vigilante justice. It’s a bit like angry mobs running around with virtual pitchforks and torches.

Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"

It means I hold a moment of silence for all the innocent victims of war. The injured, the displaced, the murdered. My father served, my brother served. But I don’t honour war or it’s warriors. Yes, I have this freedom because of these warriors but I still get to choose. Certainly you get to choose....

Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"

Its the cotton wrapping of feelings that has destroyed society. The world needs a legit evil antagonist to come along and show people what an asshole really looks like. No more bearded weirdos peeking out of caves and IEDing shit from afar. A tyrant to unite us all I believe there is some truth in ...

Re: Topper's Grilling Advice!

Per/UW: I agree with you both to a point. Any chef with good skills and experience from a quality kitchen should be able to do a good job with any cuisine. You may, however, want some someone with traditional experience to be head chef or manager. That restaurant in Camden could easily have a Mexica...

Piedmont eh, Topper? Nice.

What's your go-to dish to serve with Barolo? ... other than Osso Buco - I haven't seen a lot of veal shank around lately.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

It's challenging to pick a name that doesn't clash with the other major sports. Seattle currently have a coastal theme for all their teams: Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders (although the impending? return of the Sonics breaks that trend). They could try to stay somewhat maritime or coastal, but it seems...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

How many posts have you guys spent bickering over whether Blob did or did not insinuate Forsling was some semblance of great? My guess is it's 2-3 times more than the various links and images posted by Mick.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Not that it particularly contradicts Blob's comment, but the Bruins did miss the playoffs seven times and had several early playoff exits in the last 25 years. Which team hasn't done that in a 25 year period? Yeah, that's what I was beginning to wonder. As Blob said, clearly two finals and a Cup ar...
