Re: Goalies moving forward.

Well i guess it would depend on how bad he wants to win , stay in Van. & the available cap space for said teams. You could be right, but all i'm saying is there's a chance the Canucks would get the opportunity to match any offer. I like the fact Jimbro isn't rushing into this & is waiting to see wha...

Re: Goalies moving forward.

Just common sense. There’s a lot of teams that would love Markstrom as their number 1 and could guarantee him a NMC. But hey ... you do you. Sure there's alot of teams that would love Markstrom, but guess what? There's a flat cap and a definite probability that there will be no gate revenues next s...

Re: Goalies moving forward.

So who will be the starter next year? What is the latest? If I could re-vote I'd change mine to Demko. Marky is a sacrificial asset unfortunately we can afford to lose. Laurent Broissot is a surrey boy i think....hes had decent games against us. Possible affordable back up option Marky was awesome ...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

So whats the word on Markstrom? Anyone else getting the sense that the team may be preparing to let him price himself out of town? It would surely be one way to relieve the cap pressure while retaining TT and CT. Hell they can likely retain Jake and add a piece if they let marky walk. Whats the loc...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

https://www.tsn.ca/video/insider-trading-speculation-swirling-around-letang-caps-closing-in-on-next-coach~2031507 Lebrun says Bill Daly admits the 2020-21 season probably wont start until January. Which of course would make it the 2021-21 season. :drink: Still insists it will be an 82-game season t...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Kinda depends what team they're on. Our top 4 are Hughes / Tanev / Edler / Myers. As it sits now, that's my order of how good too. It’s probably most people’s. You might swap Edler and Tanev but they along with Myers are all declining players. Only on this board is Myers seen as anything but a #4 D...

Re: The Great Jim Benning Debate! (And personal insult thread)

For the record I was never one to get too involved in picking favorites before the draft and/or criticizing picks after. Except perhaps the Joulevi pick only because at the time everything leading up to that draft had a clear consensus of a top 5 tier that most lists didn't have Joulevi on, so to m...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 19-20 Sponsored by SKYO

No to Barrie. I think we have potentially a better player in Barrie in Rathbone who is bigger and as good as a skater. Most people think Rathbone will be a top 4 D-man one day We have Tryamkin coming the same time Podkolzin arrives And if Juolevi stays healthy But in the short term yeah we could us...

I wonder the players had not walked off the job for two days if things would have player out differently? This isn't all on Bettman.

There is always risk when making these types of decisions........................ There is more likelihood that Marty’s game will start to slide, and Demko’s will continue to improve than the opposite.
But you never know,so best to try & keep them both.

I find it hard to believe any of the big three UFA will be signing one year deals.
before the pandemic,no fans & a flat cap I would've agreed. I think the GM's will be a tad slower to make the UFA deals this offseason.
Does anyone know the timelines of the draft & UFA window?

Re: Goalies moving forward.

Markstrom wants to stay in Vancouver.
Can't they sign him to a 1 year deal ( 1x 6M ) avoiding the expansion draft problem?
Protect Demko and resign Marky after the expansion draft.
Similar to the Edler contract situation last year, no?
I wouldn't be handing Demko the reigns after 3 great games
