Re: Change of Ownership

So it's the Aqualinni's fault the team is losing! And i thought it was a lack of scoring. Thanks for the enlightenment Mismanagement is a part of it is it not? If they are nixing trades that would improve the club, do they not share in the culpability? To be clear, there are many reasons why the te...

Re: Change of Ownership

Not going to quote something that (misquotes) parts of what others and myself said. You really should get that right. It's like misrepresentation, (liable) J/K, won't sue, this time.  Where have I misquoted you? Or anyone else for that matter? Well, like quite a few here, I've sup...

Re: Change of Ownership

The owners own the team, the name, the building, everything. I don't think it's up to fans to ask if we need new ones????? Ups and downs come and go. It's pro sports. We should be thankful we have an NHL franchise. :look: While I appreciate you defining what an owner is for me( :D ) I respectively ...

Re: Change of Ownership

I agree. Everything I've read pointed to the Aquilini asking for too much in order to kill the deal, quite possibly in spite.

Then we lose Hamhuis for nothing and he ends up in Dallas anyway.

Re: Change of Ownership

Hard one to call. On the one hand we have owners with deep pockets and they are willing to spend. I'd hate to get stingy ownership here. On the other hand we have rumours of meddling, the extent, type etc but nothing proven. I mean I've heard them all too and posted more than my share on this board...

Change of Ownership

I've been thinking about this for a bit now and thought I'd see what the rest of the board thinks. While I was happy that there was a local owner (well, owners) that stepped up to buy the organization when McCaw decided to sell, in the last few years I've become less enamored with the Aquilini's and...

Re: The Great Jim Benning Debate!

If Miller, Sbisa , Dorsett and Sutter weren't signed to their hideous deals and instead replaced by minimum wage guys , the team would have a shitpile of cash to bring in three high end ufa instead of one.Its not like the aforementioned four players are any better than 600 k a year scrubs. Based on...

Re: The Great Jim Benning Debate!

I think Benning has done a decent job since getting here. While everyone brings up some great points, one that hasn't been mentioned directly is the effect that this particular market has on attracting NHL players (or in some cases, pushing them elsewhere). The National Post has an interesting serie...

Re: 2016 NHL ENTRY DRAFT

1) a true number 1 D man, he mentioned along the lines of Keith, Chara, Doughtery 2) a true number 1 goalie, he mentioned Thomas, Lundquist, Quick 3) a big, strong number one centre, he mentioned Kopitar, Getzlaf Hard to disagree with any of that. Short of Demko, I don't think we have any of those ...

Re: Canucks News and Notes

lmao @ pauser. I guess its a bit different for you here seeing as you can't run and hide behind the mods. I"m not running behind anyone. All I'm saying is that the Sedins contracts are amongst the worst in the league, and definitely amongst the worst amongst Canadian teams. Saying it doesn't make i...

Re: Luongo and Schneider Revisited (or is it continued?)

but the Panthers suck balls regardless of who is in net. They've managed just 3 goals in their first 3 games. Still pretty wild to me that Sunrise was where Luongo wanted to go... Well, I believe he actually lives in Parkland which is a nice area. Plus there's no state income tax, and his wife is f...

That's the difference between a decently run team (Lightning) and the Panthers under the old ownership group.

Re: Seattle Getting Closer?

Kowch: The shopping mall is a retail outlet in a suburb. How many corporate/high end jobs does this supply? Aren't outlet malls generally only busy on weekends when people aren't working? It's nice that some high end neighbourhoods are close by. What's their population base? Can they alone support ...

Re: Seattle Getting Closer?

Big problems in Florida to start the season. Just over 11,000 fans for their home opener (on a Saturday no less) and barely over 7,000 in attendance for last night's game against Ottawa. 7,000! That's like WHL attendance territory. https://twitter.com/GMillerTSN/status/521810120804945920/photo/1 Th...
