Re: Elephant in the Room - Trade the Sedins

If two of Dalhen, Pettersson, Gaudette, Gadjovich and/or Lind are able to make the team, that helps but that's a pretty big if to take into next season. Obviously Dowd and Archibald aren't a big deal, but replacing three of the top point getters on the team is going to take some doing. Yeah this is...

So the Oil is now trying to out-tank everybody to get yet another shot at the first overall. Loses 1-0 to the worse team in the league.

We need better odds. Call up Megna & Chaput.
Just gotta be in the conversation. Aim for bottom-5.

Re: The Bubbles and Dud review every GM move thread

I'd say Treliving looks a lot better than he is because of two things - a 4th-round pick turning into an all-star, and 6-overall turning into a first line forward as a teenager. Without either of those things happening, I don't think the Flames would even be sniffing at the playoffs this year. Mike...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Take a snippet of ones career (last 3 seasons) and compare "Point Totals Per 82 Game Season" to another. Whats note noted over these last 3 season comparibles - one player - Backlund - played 221 games, the other payer - Sutter - played 138 games. Agenda So not only is Backlund the more talented ho...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Bonino - 8 goals 9 assists but that's OK, Nashville is paying for Bonino's cup ring from Pittsburgh So he's still putting up similar numbers to Sutter (Bonino .37ppg, Sutter .35ppg) while being less expensive? You're not helping your case here. The Penguins got rid of Sutter because they (wisely) d...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Oh I forgot did I say I liked the Bonino contract ? Feel free to produce any evidence But, but, but the Penguins cleaned Bennings clock on the Sutter trade! Lockwood says hi. Bonino says hi from the 4th line on a $4 million per 4 year contract The Penguins (and Bonino) won two cups. In the 2016 pla...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka

Lol those prime 30 point seasons with his 30 hits and mentoring young players to play with grit and balls like his dad and uncles did. For the record Bubbles likes 29 year old Backlund at $5.35 million for 6 years after this season and hates 29 year old Sutter for a $1 million less for 3 years afte...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

A bit more and he’s three years younger and plays with a bit of an edge. Played with Bo in junior and has averaged close to 50 Points over 82 while Svennis closer to 40. With Hutton I don’t see much more than a bottom pairing d man who can skate. Yeah I think Domi is the more talented player for su...

Re: The Bubbles and Dud review every GM move thread

Lucic recently slipped below that level. Erikssons totals are lifted by EN goals. Lucic plays a heavy game and is an intimidating presence. Eriksson plays as though he was 140 pounds and is often terrified of contact. The funny thing is we could really use what Lucic brings, and the Oilers could pr...

Backes has played 38 games. He's playing at a 50+ point pace.
Ya, I wasn't really worried about all the points Backes might have scored in games he wasn't playing in.
So points/game doesn't factor in at all. Anything to help the narrative, eh?

Re: The Bubbles and Dud review every GM move thread

I seem to recall seeing Blob praising Sweeney for his (apparently) shorter turn-around on the Bruins' rebuild. Interesting that as bad as Backes has been for the Bruins, his contract isn't holding back the club even though he's not cracking 40 points. I reckon that'll be the same for the Canucks wi...

Re: The Bubbles and Dud review every GM move thread

Lucic and Okposo are on pace for 50 points . They are three years younger than Jesse James Eriksson. Lucic is on a 44 point pace over 82 games. Eriksson is on a 35 point pace over 82 games. Eriksson is an elite penalty killer who plays a 200 foot game. Lucic not. Neither is living up to their deal....

Re: The Bubbles and Dud review every GM move thread

So you are s big believer of no quality veteran presence in the lineup for the kids to learn from, just bring in cheap don't care paycheque collector vets like what full tank teams like the Sabres and Oilers do? You prefer the long term 10 year bust it down to the ground ugly long rebuild? Hand the...
