Re: Canuck News and Notes - 2018-2019

As for contract, I'd be fine with a 3 year deal but 4 is too long, and my guess is he will get 4. I'd be fine with a 4-year deal, provided the arrangement allows the Canucks to expose him to Seattle and contains limited trade protection in back-half of the deal. Essentially, a 2 year deal with a fu...

Re: Closing out the season (2018/19)

Wow. Giving a player like Stone that kind of dough is a gamble. $10.5 million per year for Mark Stone? I don’t know about that. Over the past 3 seasons he's 6th in PPG for RW, behind Kucherov, Kane, Raantanen, Wheeler and Kessel. Kane already makes $10.5, Wheeler $8.5. Kucherov goes to $9.5M next s...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Hagelin goes to Washington for a 3rd and a (conditional) 6th.
Hagelin must satisfy a games-played requirement in the playoffs and the Capitals must win two rounds for the Kings to get the sixth-rounder in next year’s draft.

Stones price is being reported 10.5 M$ per
Someone will give it to him, and he just might be worth it, but I wouldn't trade 4-5 pieces for the right to (maybe) pay him that much.

Re: Closing out the season (2018/19)

You don't make the trade unless he's NOT a rental. You have an agreement worked out ahead of time.....hence conditional picks. If we are allowed to negotiate an extension before pulling the trigger on a deal, the prices goes up exponentially. If we're adding conditional picks, again, it takes away ...

Re: Canucks Young Guns

Thank God the old Swede didn’t accept the $20m/2 year deal, it would have ruined us. But yes, it turned out alright in the end… $20 million/2 year deal 11 years ago, when our current best player was 9 for a broken down hasbeen. Re: Closing out the season (2018/19)

The point would be to land him BEFORE we have to get into a bidding war in July. Like I said, not a rental. The point of getting him is not just to make the playoffs this season. I guess I don't see why he would re-up here after being traded mid-season. Maybe the 8th year means that much? All indic...

Re: Closing out the season (2018/19)

If they have a chance to be there they should try to be there. But that doesn’t mean they should be buyers at the deadline or shy away from moving someone if a buyer is willing to pay a premium (Tanev go TO?). Organizationally, they’re probably better off missing this year and having a shot at a lo...

Re: OOTS 2018-2019

A hat trick for Debrincat last night. We could have picked him in 2016. Gillis could have picked Rackell instead of Jensen. He could have picked Tatar, Barrie or Orlov instead of Rödin. He could have picked Derek Stepan instead of Yan Sauve, could have picked Erik Karlsson instead of Hodgson....

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Just read that Duchene's camp turned down an offer of $8M x 8 years. The guy has clocked 70 points just once in his career, and at 28 years of age is finally producing above a 1ppg pace for the first time. Does he think he's worth $10M? He won’t be able to pull that kind of money elsewhere (max ter...
