Re: WC 2018

What has happened to Canada’s goaltending. All the other teams goalies put up brick walls against us but ours were sieves? At this tourney, for sure the goaltending was junk. It's too bad Carey Price needed a break after that brutal season. Keep in mind that half of the starting goalies in the NHL'...

Re: WC 2018

2. McDavd is the most talented player in the world, but I’m not sure he’ll ever win a championship. He is like the complete opposite of clutch. He should have done more in this game, especially at the end with the puck on his stick. You just know Crosby would have scored there. He is trending to be...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

The goal this offseason, I think, it to reinforce some of that lost depth (that wasn't deep enough). They aren't good enough to make the move now. The way to do it is by taking on a couple contracts from players that can play but their team needs cap space or has internal payroll pressures. Get pic...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

Maybe we "tend to overstate luck", but keep in mind this is a team where a great defenceman was bitten by the only snake in Finland and had 2 teammates' shots deflect and injure him - one smashing his face and fracturing orbital bone, one rupturing his testicle. This is a team where the best prospe...

Re: The 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I could see the Canucks trading back if there is player a team like the Islanders desperately covet at 7th. If the Isles offer up one of their lottery picks and one of their 2nds for our 7th do you do it? Draft someone like Ty Smith of Barrett Hayton and grab an extra 2nd? Is there a big separation...

Granlund was traded for Shinkaruk
Right, I'm getting my Flames cast-off trades mixed up.

Shink+Rasmus Andersson for Granlund and Baertshi. I suppose it all hinges how Andersson turns out.

Re: The Official CC "All Thing Leaves" thread

Meh... not one of those guys has established himself as fuck all. Wake me up when he wins a trade outright. Like steals a legit top 4 D or a legit top 6 forward. Two of those guys can barely hang with a team that’s bottom 3 in the league and one hasn’t suited up for a game yet. I agree with your ge...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

2. Aren't those contracts insured? I have heard insurance pays 80% of MacArthur's salary. I have heard insurance pays Gaborik's salary if it's a new injury. (Gabby's latest injury was a new injury, but he wasn't out long enough for the insurance to kick in) FWIW Interesting. So there's not much inc...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

If the Canucks took MacArthur's salary off of Katz's hands, and either Ryan or Gaborik, then maybe 2x1RP will get Karlsson. I wouldn't mind that - MacArthur will just sit on LTIR for 2 more seasons, Gaborik has 3 years on his contract and will likely play 1 before he's on LTIR, so it wouldn't affec...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

Really the biggest knock I heard on Kane is this. He has chip on his shoulder and sees racism in a lot of things. He can take exception fast. Ok a couple of things. He’s cocky and arrogant to a fault but most of that seemed to stem from his early twenties and immaturity. He can’t hold his alcohol. ...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

I think the point was, the Sharks are trending down with little in the pipeline, while the Canucks are either trending up or have more hope on the farm, and are more likely to win over the next 7 years . Do you honestly believe that's the case? If I'm Kane I'm looking at it like I have a chance to ...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

Money, Chance to Win, and Lifestyle . He can have 2/3 here, but he can have 3/3 staying put in San Jose. Not if he and his agent see your Canucks doing more winning over the life of the contract than your Sharks. Sure, it's possible Kane and his agent see us as a competitive playoff team going deep...

Re: Trade rumours & armchair pipe dreams 17-18 Sponsored by SKYO

Good points, Aaron. Further, if Benning was will to swing a deal for Kane prior to July 1, say giving up a mid level prospect (Motte, Boucher etc.), in order to acquire his rights, Jim could offer him an 8 year deal with a slightly lower cap hit. That is, if Kane does in fact want to join Vancouver...
