Re: Canucks News and Notes 2016/17

I don't mind the signing, although not everyone agrees.

Every situation is different and it would be great if he actually is just a late bloomer.

I'm shocked Buffalo matched that for $50million-yikes! Edmonton would have gotten their just desserts if Buffalo had walked & taken the picks. I know Vanek is good but how good will he be w/o Drury & Briere in the lineup? We shall see. The days of just letting players become RFAs and not sweating i...

I think Vanek's contract offers better value than the contracts for Briere, Drury and Gomez. He's the real deal and will be a top 10 forward in the NHL for years to come IMO. I don't fault Lowe for trying, Vanek is worth the 4 1st round picks. Halfway through his contract, Vanek may be viewed as a b...

That is NOT correct, they have not received point in 4 of those games during that span. Nonetheless, their record is impressive and very real.

The poll question is a bit too black & white, but as it is worded, I voted yes. The question of whether he is capable, ability-wise, of backing up Luongo for 10 or so game a year is not an issue IMO. His overall play this year as a rarely used backup has been very good. However, the Canucks should o...

That string of sellouts for Colorado ended a while back. Montreal has the largest capacity.

Here's a link for attendance figures going back to 1989-1990.

Here is a good link for attendance figures. Keep in mind that actual capacities are understated with some arenas.

Calgary fans, like most fans, are loyal when their team is playing well. A peek at the attendance figures for other years in the past confirms this.

I updated the Team Salary and Roster  to include the aquisition of Sabourin as well adding the Team Picture and other tweaks. This should represent the opening night roster, except for, perhaps, the lines & pairings..

What scares me is how close we are to the cap, apparently Bourdon's potential bonus counts towards the cap meaning we're at about $43.6 million, and need to shed salary. The Canucks will start the season projecting a $43,283,333 cap hit. In all likelihood, there will be some key injuries to some of...

The numbers you provide for Bryzgalov are incorrect. That is the total of his contract, not the yearly amount he receives. He gets 1.3 million a season. Actually his cap hit is $1,181,250 per year for the next 2 years. You can also add Selanne ($3.75M) and McDonald ($3.333M) to that list. Vancouver...
