Re: Can the Canucks actually AFFORD a SUPERSTAR next summer?

[quote="Sid Dithers"]1. Ohlund will not be in line for a pay raise. As much as I've valued him as a good, reliable player over the years, he's slipping past his prime now. If he has a good season, he can be had for the same salary next year, I would think. quote] Ohlund has given 'Nucks a "home town...

TSN has the story posted on their website http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=235503&lid=headline&lpos=secStory_nhl As most may know this is Nazzy's agent. I hope this doesn't mean Naslund will be back. Even at a cut rate, I don't want to see him back. As for Gillis, he has turned down offer to become G...

Trev is one of my favorite players and it pissed me off the AV used him. Not surprising Linden handled it with class.

Nice tribute

How come I haven't heard anything about Muckler? maybe becuase he never accomplished much as a GM and is older then dirt jk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Muckler So he's old. Great argument. 4 consecutive 100 point seasons is nothing to sneeze at including building a Stanley Cup finals team. FY...

Brunnstom update

http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2008/04/updating_the_status_of_fantast.html understandably, he has to reevaluate where he may end up playing. I can't blame him for having second thoughts, given the uncertainty of the direction of the new GM. That being said, if he is as good as the hype, he should h...

And here's another newsflash for you. Holland and Nill where both given 5 year contract extensions last fall, Although Holland is most likely out of the question, I believe most aspiring GM's (such as Nill) negotiate an escape clause if they get a chance to be GM. If he doesn't have an out cluase, ...

possibly the worst draft in the history of the league

2002 Vancouver drafts 11 players (no first rounder) a total of 1 game played in the NHL.

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2002e.html

does any one remember why we did not have a first rounder?

was it the pick ( and McCabe) we gave up for Chicago's 1st rounder that was used for Daniel Sedin?

You know, I wouldn't mind a Pat Quinn hiring as long as he's in to mentor Linden, like how Dallas is set up. I like Tambellini as a person, but as someone said it earlier, we need new blood. Hopefully Tamby's job will be safe. CAn I'm a huge non-fan of Quinn!! although he did draft my three favorit...

Holy shit! Aquilini doesn't have much patience does he? Big big news. I guess that Vancouver Sun article about the GM's future being in doubt was right. Well I sure as hell hope Aquilini has someone lined up because this team needs a lot of work. Well Aquilini did not hire him and obviously did not...

Avery is the biggest SOB in the league, but he is good at his job and does have some talent. Hate some of his antics (dives, turtling, the broduer stick waving), but he does bring passion and energy to the game. Plus he at least drops the gloves once in awhile ( unlike Cooke, whom i do not like). Mo...

some possible trade targets

Eric Cole - gritty, 25-30 goal pootential but at 4 million for next 2 years and he will be 30 in Nov. Jeff Carter - young, RFA, big, right handed shot, don't really see any downside. Maybe sign to an offer sheet and then try a trade instead. possible cap problems for Phi ( 46 million committed for n...
