Re: Advanced stats/ Moneypuck
The big problem with advanced stats in hockey is the human factor in recording the base events. I don't know much about advanced stats, but I'm curious what you mean by this? The human factor in things like hits and faceoffs is huge, and I don't think it will "even out" in the averages. For example...

Re: GDT - Canucks vs Blues 7 PM PST SNet
Do you think 5 min overtimes have an effect on the players? That's only an extra 3 or 4 shifts which are essentially non-contact. Other teams in this conference are pretty much in the same boat schedule wise. Sure the Canucks played a lot of hockey last year, but they also had a pretty lax training ...

Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian
Wow what a lot of COHO bashing. I don't see any sign of an arrogant young man. I also don't see any of his parents scooping headlines with any negative comments. Did he want more ice time? If he didn't then he shouldn't be playing in the NHL. Did they suggest some different types of scenarios for m...

Re: GDT - Canucks vs Blues 7 PM PST SNet
Schedule gets pretty nasty the last two weeks of March, 8 games in 13 days, two back to backs, two 3 in 4 nights. I'm sure Salo will get a night or two off.

Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian
...and yeah Doc, I've heard, read in more than one place that the family is a "mini Lindros" clan. Funny thing about that is all we heard after Hodgson was drafted, and throughout the world juniors, was that he was all class future "Trevor Linden like" captain material. Not to say that Hodgson lack...

Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian
I think you're bang on Tant.
Then you throw in Hodgson's RFA status after next year (can easily foresee $3m+ after a solid campaign) and this move makes total sense in hindsight.

Re: GDT - Canucks vs Blues 7 PM PST SNet
This quest for 1st and another Presidents' Trophy may be the worst thing for us. I personally don't mind taking 2nd spot if it means a rested and fully charged Salo, Twins and Kes...would love to give all four spot duty rest of the way but that ain't happening. I don't know, if winning the Presiden...

Re: Sammy Pahlsson coming this way
He snapped his pointless streak, but I don't recall how much better he was actually playing. I do however still remember Toews totally embarrassing him on that one play where they were both going back for the puck. Toews pushed Manny aside like he was a 12 year old and proceeded to score.

Re: Sammy Pahlsson coming this way
Maybe, it's the eye, but I don't know. Everyone seems to forget that Malhotra was having a pretty awful year before the injury. You'd think he'd at least be able to feel the puck on his stick, even if his peripheral vision is gone. I'm not saying he can't contribute in the playoffs, but if it comes ...

Re: Sammy Pahlsson coming this way
Well it looks like Pahlsson can still skate, so in theory he should still be a very effective shut down guy. He's a clear upgrade on Malhotra, who's success rate at doing something with the puck has to be close to the bottom of the league. Whether it's a simple pass, clearing the puck out, or dumpin...

Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian
They're definitely going to miss Hodgson's ability to get the puck to the middle of the ice and generate chances. But most around here are smart enough to realize that he wasn't going to be getting 12 minutes a night in the playoffs. Would he have scored a couple clutch goals (aren't most playoff go...
