Re: Bo knows! - The Horvat thread
Well - its been almost 1/2 a season, and while nobody would say that Bo has set the world on fire with his offensive prowess, he *is* learning what it takes to succeed in an NHL that is far faster and more physical than any OHL game. I am very pleased with the strides this young man is making. I don...

Re: Canucks News and Notes
We couldn't have had Berglund - Canucks wanted the deal but with Garrison hold the NTC - couldn't make it happen.
Have I expressed lately my hatred of NTCs? For this club they are like anchors on the rebuilding/re-tooling of the club.
And while hatred is not logical - neither are NTCs......

Re: Gallagher says Kassian needs a new start elsewhere
Kassian isn't on the First Unit because Vrbata is in the spot in the 1-3-1 he would hold on that PP.
Simple as that. Vrbata > Kassian.

Re: Benning
What is this vision? To load up on expensive vets with the cap room we have, be competitive in terms of chasing a playoff spot, translation: slightly above mediocre, and hope you have the young talent that can push over the next 2-3 years to maybe peak and have another shot at the cup with aging co...

Wow Strangelgrove - you amazed me on two levels with that last post...
1) how you actually utterly destroyed BD with his own comments.
2) how much time you had to have spent researching BDs previous comments...

Re: Kesler has requested a trade
In my opinion, the needs are great. Sadly, this team full of NTCs is going to implode without enough return I believe. I don't want it to be a long term rebuild - I just think it *will be that*. I hope I'm wrong. It was hard to watch the 1997 and 1998 seasons. So, if I understand you correctly, you...

Re: Kesler has requested a trade
it is time for a re-build imo, the only problem is I really don't want to see Gillis in charge of a re-build. He's had loads of time to draft and develop younger players and has failed. "Re-build" starts with a new GM and new coach....and I hope that happens sooner rather than later. That is a disc...

Re: Kesler has requested a trade
I guess where we differ is I think it has been pretty clear that the organization wants to add more horsepower in the form of big, young, skilled forwards. The Kassian trade, our recent draft picks and signings (Jensen, Horvat, Gaunce, Shinkaruk and Fox), the Matthias trade and of course the Kesler...

Re: Kesler has requested a trade
Well Herb, I never suggested any particular trade for Kesler. And I am not suggesting they let him go for a 7th rounder and a bag of pucks. All I said is that I think the team needs to re-build. This team hasn't gotten it done and has been in decline for several seasons despite Band-Aid additions to...

Re: Kesler has requested a trade
The Kesler move or non move this summer will be a reasonable indicator of the direction the organization feels it needs to go in. If Kesler is NOT moved, the Canucks brass thinks they can get back to their winning ways with just a few tweaks. If Kesler is traded, the team is in for a long term re-to...

Re: Could part of it be?
I am not one of those shitting on the Sedins. I think they are good players. But they were paid as if they were still leading the league in points. They aren't and they wont be going forward. Those are bad contracts for good, not great, players. I hate contracts that pay long term for past performan...

Re: Could part of it be?
I currently don't have a problem with the way Tortorella is coaching the team. The old style of play did not win us a Stanley Cup and it was time for AV to move on. Players need to adapt to new roles and styles of play. I am disgusted by the way the players played the last 3rd period. Were I coach I...

Re: A Rudderless Ship
All I want is this - For management to show that they have a plan for the team to get better. To show us that there really is a captain at the head of this ship, not "steering by committee". I disagree with posters who don't think this team needs a rebuild. Look at the on-ice product. That last game...
