Re: Canucks News N Notes 26-27

It’s an announcer of what? I guess warning interested parties that there will be more negotiations and consultations. I’d like good things for Britannia, a tough area to be a kid in, and for the Canucks. This will have to be a shared amenity that improves the neighborhood while also helping the team ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 26-27

That’s true. Being good at one aspect of work doesn’t mean you are good at all the things. Although you hope for that. When I think of the best managers I’ve had, they knew my work well enough to give me practical advice, while also being able to identify reasonable metrics of office performance and ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 26-27

In the sense that performance is what we want, performance is what we should be measuring. One way that the pro scouting can help the amateur scouting is in collecting the data that is most salient to performance. Perhaps that will help them identify players and maximize their potential. But in ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 26-27

Why don’t I think pro and amateur scouting have much to do with each other? Because one group serves to grow the Canucks prospects depth by looking at youth players while the other serves to monitor the professional ranks. Now I suppose the counter argument is that a scout should be familiar with b ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 26-27

Ok so Cammi was head of both amateur and pro scouting and will have a consultative role on amateur scouting. I wonder why they would keep her just for that, the funniest answer is because they’re hiring Ray Ferraro for something and want to keep sweet. I don’t know that pro and amateur scouting sho ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 26-27

Doc was known to harass other boards. He even admitted writing a letter to the Laughs management once. I don't recall what it was about but that was a bit weird. Many years ago, during a lockout, I wrote a proposal for revenue sharing (essentially, players to be compensated in shares, incentivizing ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 26-27

I posted at HF for years but they are quite dull, yet vehement. CC is the closest thing to the feeling at the old Usenet group, alt sports nhl vanc-Canucks Kenji, I used to post there too (alt.nhl....canucks). I miss ajh and foamy. What was your user name? Kenji, oddly enough. AJH still has his ...

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas

If Licorice Maki is also trending to bust territory yet has potential high end finishing skill, perhaps that is your natural fit for Wright.

Then again, we might be moving from no center depth to the league’s densest collection of 2/3 types, if that strikes anyone as being a problem

Re: Media (AKA Idiots) Rebooted

I didn’t expect much grief over the loss of 650. I also didn’t expect much of 650 but I do grieve it. Sports radio is empty calories but well everyone has a vice and that was one for me.

Optimistic or not, it’s a defensible position - a 1st rounder is an asset. RJ could put it in a package too

Re: The Petey Predicament

Isn’t LA the obvious landing spot? His wife has ties there and is an influencer. He once used to aspire to having a brand and I dare say his scooter riding ways would be more acceptable than in sneering Raintown. They need a star center after Kopitar and are not rebuilding. They have a 17th OA to p ...

This new NBA-esque situation of superstars forcing trades seems like a superstar thing not an American thing. When Bédard and Celebrini force their way to Vancouver we’re gonna be ok with it

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

Brian Burke to the Hall of Fame. (...also in the '26 class Bergeron, Price, Rinne, Tkachquits old man and some gash named Cindy Curley). Burke might be responsible for my hockey interest. Sports talk with Dan Russell had his hit on Wednesday nights which was production night at the SFU peak and we ...
