Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
All conflicts of interest and joke LTIR aside, just the idea of having a dirty player like Pronger in the department of "player safety" is a joke. Hire a thief to catch a thief.... Having a guy who knows when a player is being sneaky dirty, vs when it's a hockey play gone bad is probably a good thi...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I'm sorry to hear of your struggles, and I really wish I could help. But, since I don't live in BC, my tax dollars go elsewhere. Best of luck getting the funding you require. We are all Canucks. The Pronger deal is one of the most ridiculous things in professional sports. The man himself admits he'...

No I can't prove that. Can you prove Vladamir Konstantinov won't be making a comeback as well?Island Nucklehead wrote:Can you prove this?Vader wrote: Quit arguing semantics. No doctor will ever clear him to play. There is no chance of that.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Maybe the CBA should be tweaked to have wording to handle this specific situation but there is no cap circumvention here. Nonsense! Why would the league want clear guidelines that can't be ignored unilaterally at it's own convenience? No, not nonsense. They could write a clause in to the CBA that a...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Also, the fact you claim he's an "ex-player" is false. If he was an "ex-player", he'd be retired. Surprise, surprise, you missed the point. He is "officially" a player but in reality he is an ex-player. Quit arguing semantics. No doctor will ever clear him to play. There is no chance of that. Maybe...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Was Luongo on LTIR and not counting against Fla/Van's cap? Was Florida in the playoffs? Are there salaries & a cap during the playoffs? These are questions you may want to reconcile before posting nonsense. The only non-sense here is how you figure the NHL can't hire an ex-player to do a job becaus...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Given Pronger is still under contract with the Flyers they would have to consent to this job with the NHL. No way they do so unless they are guaranteed no cap hit. That's collusion. Did the Panthers ask for salary cap relief when Luongo took a jobwith TSN durng the playoffs? Did Luongo have to reti...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Why is the NHL so willing to help the Flyers out on this? The only party the NHL is trying to help out is the NHL. They feel Pronger is the best man for the job. Any ex-player will have some kind of subconscious bias...collecting a cheque won't change that. The Flyers have a legal obligation to pay...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
[ Put it this way... if Pronger was 30 years old, do you not think he would've retired by now? Because he's a 35+ contract, and because the Flyers would get screwed by the cap, he hasn't retired. That's the only reason. If he can't play any longer, he should retire. Age has nothing to do with it. :...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Yo RD - what say you on this deal? $7.25 for a 50 - 60 point guy, and you think the Sedin's deal is bad???? The guy only had a handful more goals that Chris Higgins and one more goal than Nick Bonino last season...calling the Ryan deal a massive overpayment would be an understatement. Don't think y...

Re: Kneecaps
And when the government loses their appeal, doesn't that mean they will (still) have to hire more teachers? I could be wrong but wasn't the courts ruling that any future contract negotiations around class size and composition would supercede the courts rulings....thus no more funding for teachers?
